    1. Re: [TNLINCOL] GRAY Family
    2. James L. Danley
    3. Thanks Ginny & Julia, While I am unable to explain the 1836 marriage record (i.e., was it an error; another couple; or the same couple that waited two years to actually marry?), I believe that the couple is James Harvey Gray and Mary Emaline Russell who married 30 May 1839 in LCT. Thus making James Harvey Gray the likely son of John E. Gray & Kesiah. The Joseph Wallace family with similarly named children is nothing more than a coincidence since he and his wife Elizabeth L. Wallace (m. 27 Mar 1842 in Sumner Co., TN) are in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 Sumner Co., TN census. As for the duplication of the Thomas Gray/Grey household in the 1850 LCT census, there are actually several cases where families were enumerated twice. In this particular case, Thomas Grey's household #893 was enumerated on 29 Oct 1850. The other household for Thomas Gray, #1032, was enumerated on 8 Nov 1850. And Alfred Bearden was the enumerator for both entries. In the former Thomas Gray/Grey is living adjacent to his presumed daughter, Rebecca Gray (HH #892), who married Thomas Lodge Dennis Parkes on 8 Feb 1848 in LCT. In the latter, Thomas Gray/Grey is living nearby his presumed daughter, Malinda Elizabeth Gray (HH #1047), who married William Martin Scivally on 2 Nov 1848 in LCT. One would have to do a land deed study to determine whether Thomas Gray/Grey owned two different properties. Jim Danley
