I recently spent a day in Fayetteville, TN doing genealogical research. With the help of Jim McNeal and his wife Jane I was able to find exactly the information I was searching for. Jim opened up the LCGS office and made all resources available for my search. He assisted me by following leads as I research other leads. His wife made telephone calls to help locate a certain school. With their assistance a two day digging through books and papers was reduces to two hours and my questions and one roadblock were answered. Again thanks to the McNeals for their help. I also traveled to Petersburg, TN that day and visited the Morgan School. My father had gone to school there in 1939-1940. I also had the opportunity to meet and talk with an own schoolmate of his. Turk Warren still lives in Petersburg and had numerous stories to tell me of the school and my father. Peggy Coleman was visiting with Turk when I arrived and she shared some more stories of the area today. Sad to say that controversy has enveloped the school and its use. Hopefully it can be resolved and the memories saved. Again thanks to each and every person in Lincoln County that assisted me and made me and my wife welcome.
