    1. [TNLINCOL] Census Questions
    2. List Members & Cousins, Cousin Julia Molitz seems to always be able to find good information. I have found the following to be quite informative about several of our ancestors around the Chestnut Ridge area. It tells of families on both sides of the Bedford and Lincoln County lines. The site is http://www.javero.com/clan/index.shtml This prompted me to look at some of the census records and then some questions occurred. The 1860 10th District, Lincoln County, (Petersburg Post Office), dwelling houses visited in order of visitation, no. 1363, listed James Moore 39, born abt. 1821; Francis 24; Tempy 3 The 1870 10th District, Lincoln County, (Mulberry Post Office), dwelling houses visited in order of visitation, no. 184, listed James Moore 42, born abt 1828; Francis Moore 30; Tempie 12, at school; William 10, at school; George 8, at school; John 6; Martha 4; Thomas 2. There is very much an age difference in what the enumerator put down for James and Francis but I believe that they are the same family.  Now looking at the ages I also looked at the 1850 Census Sub Division 2, Lincoln County; listed is John Moore, Head of the Household age 48, b. abt 1802 in South Carolina, Mary Moore 41, James Moore 21, William G. Moore 20, John M. Moore 17, Thomas F. Moore 16, Mary Moore 14, Nancy Moore 12, Martha Moore 10, Hugh P. Moore 7, Alfred M. Moore 2 The question is the son James Moore in the 1850 census the same as the head of the household in the 1860 and 1870 Census? Could this John Moore that is the head of the household in the 1850 census also have migrated from South Carolina with the Fosters, Medlins, Armstrongs, Gibsons Roberts and the others that are listed in the web link that Julia had sent me above?
