I have been stuck iin the mud with my Himebaugh research and Cathy at [email protected] sent me info on Mulberry, Lincoln Co., where my g. grandparents taught school, segregated as to gender. Grandma Jane taught girls and Peter Himebaugh taught High math and science to boys. He joined the war 1862 and came back home 1864, minus his left arm. Jane died in 1868 leaving him with a young daughter, May Belle Himebaugh SCHULL (my grandma) and a younger son, Guy Walter. I just completed transcribing Janes letters to Peter during the war to digital in MS Word. George Waller is going to include therm in the web "Old Letters of Tennessee" < www.tngenweb.org/tnletters/...ml.webloc>. Below is what Cathy sent me; Mulberry Riflemen W. Lawson Moore, capt; J. B. Hi , I am not related nor have I proved the following. I am sorry you have had to wait so long for a response. Been there, done that too. Lincoln Co TN Heritage Book, currently being sold, has article No 1289 about McLaughlin. [ If you would like a copy send message to TNLIN site asking for instructions to pay.] William Hart McLaughlin II was the son of William Hart McLaughlin I [1787-1854] and Catherine Peebles of Davidson Co TN. The father had come to TN as a young man with his brothers from Rowan Co NC where his parents and Nancy Hart had lived. The family had moved south from Bucks Co PA. **** I have the book " Bucks Co Pennsylvania Deed Records, 1684-1763" by John David Davis, published by Heritage Book, Inc. 1997. Page 364 in above book. Andrew Martin McLaughlin , 22 Feb 1883- 7 Mar 1916, and Martha Emma Carrigan were my Great Grandparents. I just looked ahead and noticed you were the submitter of all of above. I will not delete as others on site may not have the information. Ginny ************************************* Just took a look at my Rowan Co NC Heritage Book and note you are not the submitter there. Wade P. Carrigan was. The Carrigan family of Rowan Co NC can be traced back to Irish immigrants, James Carrigan of Cootehill, County Monaghan, Ulster, who married Isabell Brown abt 1750.They left Ireland for the new world ca 1754-5. Their two oldest children were born in Ireland, the third probably born in Ireland but the fourth definitely was born in Lancaster Co PA. The fifth and all the rest were born in Orange Co NC. James was born abt 1716 and died 8 Feb. 1793. He is buried at Coddle Creek ARP Church, in Iredell Co NC. Isabell Brown was born around 1726 and died aft 1801 and presumed to buried where her husband was. Their children were; 1. Jane b 1751 md Samuel Pickens 2. Rebecca b 1753 ,d Samuel McCullough 3. Mary b 1754, d 2 Dec 1846, md Hugh Hayr 9 Nov 1795 4. Martha b 1755, d 1808 md Thomas Hair [ brother of above Hayr] 5. Margaret b 1757, 1817, md James Barr 6. Isabell b 1758,md James Houston 7. Robert 3. John b 31 Mar 1794, d 15 April 1863, md Sarah Carothers 18 Sept 1822 4 . Margaret b 1810, d 25 April, 1871 md Joseph Goodnight 7 Feb 1837 5. Mary md James S. [Van] Pelt 10 Oct 1821. This article goes on to list the children of other Carrigans later in this family. Let me know if you need them. Misc. Harvey Jacob Blackwelder Aug 2, 1859- Nov 17, 1930, died in Iredell Co NC. He married Sarah McLaughlin on Nov 21, 1890. He md 2nd Catherine Tarlton md July 14, 1909. John H. Christy md Albertine E. McLaughlin. Members of the Christy family are listed in 1860 census of Rowan Co NC. Early records of the Christie Family- in Iredell and Rowan Counties were taken from civil land and marriages. Andrew Christie Sr b 1745, d 1822, md 1768 Ann ___. *** The Rowan Co Heritage Book seems to have articles of Carrigan and Corriher families in the index as same family. That may be a clue to check out other places using both name spellings. Check out Corrigan too. Spelling was terrible back then of others. Your man was able to sign his own name in mid 1700's. Great. I suggest going on the internet and locating Iredell Co NC genealogy and Madison Co AL genealogy checking for your surnames there. Since Joseph Gilbert Carrigan was a state Senator and you have the company number, 8th Infantry, he fought in, I would not think you would have trouble finding lots available regarding Joseph??? .·:*¨¨*:·.~* Ginny *~.·:*¨¨*:·.
