Forgive me if this appears twice but I sent it out last week & it hasn't appeared on the mailing list yet. For those of you interested, there is a book available on the Internet called MEDLIN CLAN AND KIN IN AMERICA at http://www.angelfire.com/tx3/trek/ This book covers mostly the Medlin family of course, but it also includes Gibson, Armstrong, Smith, and Foster, There were a few more families that were also in Lincoln Co. that came with these families - Suggs, Bowlin/Bolin, and Nichols. On the 1820 census, page 139 (or 26 depending on which census you're looking at) you find the following people: Thomas Armstrong who is a bit higher on the page, then one after the other next door to each other are: Thomas Gibson, James Gibson, Willoby Bowlen who I descend from, Ambrose Foster, Joel Foster, Robert Bowlen, James Alexander, William Nichols, Henry Nichols, Samuel Cunningham, Henry Suggs. My Willoby Bowlen was formerly in Montgomery Co., N. C. The 1850 mortality census of Moniteau Co., Mo. states he was born in S.C. The Suggs & Nichols families were also neighbors in Montgomery Co., N.C. as well as Moses Gibson One of the Suggs in Montgomery Co., N.C. married into the Wright family, though he died in N.C. The Fosters, Armstrongs & Medlins came out of South Carolina. Some of my Bolin family moved into Ga.before heading for Lincoln Co. which may be where they met up with the Fosters & Medlins unless they knew them before moving to N.C. From Lincoln Co., the Bolins also moved into Marion Co., Ala., then Stoddard Co., Mo. with at least one Foster family before moving up to Moniteau Co., Mo. I know a Bolin married into the Foster & Medlin family but my info is so scant, I know little else. I descend from John Hill who married Elizabeth Bolin & John Hill may or may not have been in Lincoln Co., Tn. but he was definitely in Ala. & Mo. These families seem to leave a few behind everywhere they moved. My Bolins did not move to Texas with the rest of the Fosters/Medlins though. Just thought I'd throw more confusion into the mess. It appears these families were all close though. Bernadine Teague
