Mary, I can tell you some about the Ethridges....By 1820 Jeremiah, brother Jared, sister Anna, and sister Charity Ethridge Warren, wife of Henry, are all there, these guys seem to have come to Lincoln Co with the Warrens from Nash Co NC..Those Ethridges also have a sister named Courtney, who I suspect is Courtney Lewis, who had the children with John Warren, (common law wife, they never married). John died in LC. 1820...By around 1830 Jeremiah leaves for Al along with several of the children of John Warren...Jared gets lost out there somewhere...They are the children of a Jeremiah Ethridge and Courtney Bright from NOrfolk Co Va. to Nash Co NC where he dies around 1800. That Jeremiah is first named 1775 in Edgecombe Co NC (this became Nash CO in 1777). with the first mentions of some Warrens there, and children of each still together up thru about 1840, a lot of years to remain so close nit.. Cindy
my Thomas Gray born ca 1806 NC, married Nancy Ethridge born 1810, this marriage was 18 Feb 1836 in Lincoln Co TN You find them on the 1850 LCT census in Dist 8, along with their children, after this about 1855 they move to Arkansas. I have not been able to connect either Thomas Gray or his wife Nancy Ethridge to parents.....being married 1836 in LCT makes me think their parents are there somewhere. Early Tennessee Tax lists by Sistler There are 3 Ethrege in Sumner Co TN in 1811 - Aaron, Mathew, and Thomas There are in Sumner Co Tn 1816 - John, Terrell and Thomas Ethridge in Wilson Co TN - 1804 - Mathias and Thomas Ethridge that is all found on early Ethridge.....except this book only has 1812 newspaper for Fayette area of LCT....so it is all kind of useless for me with out an early LCT tax record. I found Gray all over, but the only place I found Gray, Ethridge and Moss was in 1804 Wilson Co TN..... Mathias and Thomas Ethridge Thomas Moss Samuel and William Gray I did find in Bedford Co TN 1812 John and Samuel Gray These are proberly the John Gray of Lincoln and Samuel Gray of Bedford who in 1833 applied for Rev War pension - and they were brothers from NC. I did not find a Moss in 1833 or 1835 pension but found a John Etheridge in Bount Co TN getting a pension I found a William Gray 1833 getting a pension out of Wilson Co Zerobabel Gray out of Davidson Co in 1833 from NC line anyway, that is what I have so far.
