Dear Ginny, There are at least 6 distinct GEORGE families with ties to LCT (and possibly 8-9 when including the surrounding counties in both TN & AL). While I suspect that one or more of these may one day prove to be related, so far only one can be traced back to Nicholas George of Lancaster Co., VA. It is important to note that there are questions regarding the specific line which you cited. The following individuals are brickwalls. Their parents/ancestry have yet to be proven, but some of their descendants do have ties to LCT: 1. David George (d. 1782) m. Bathia Collins; 2. Richard George (b. Abt. 1805) m. Janette _____ ; 3. Solomon George (b. Abt. 1764) m. Sarah Rich; 4. Thomas S. George (1791-1859) m. Mary Hurt; 5. William H. George (b. Abt. 1810) m. Nancy Perry. William George, Sr. (The Revolutionary War Soldier) was born 19 Jul 1756 in Lancaster Co., VA. He died on 1 Apr 1847 in LCT. Following the Revolutionary War, he removed to Nova Scotia to engage in the boating and fishing business. While there he met and married Africa Rogers. Her family migrated to Nova Scotia from North Carolina. Their first seven children were born in Nova Scotia: 1. David W. George (1792-1854) -- died in LCT; 2. William George, Jr. (1795-1862) -- who died in LCT; 3. Fereby George (b. 1797); 4. Joseph George (1799-1868) -- died in Giles Co., TN; 5. Mary George (1801-1859) -- died in LCT; 6. Thomas B. George (1803-1888) -- died in LCT; 7. Needham George (1805-1879) -- died in LCT; About 1808, William George, Sr. removed to North Carolina. That is where their next two children were born: 8. Mahala George (b. 1809); 9. Eli George (b. 1811) -- lived in LCT for a while. There is a dispute as to whether there was a 10th child, John George (b. Abt. 1816). While I won't go into the details, I believe him to be a grandson of William George, Sr. William George, Sr. relocated to LCT in January 1832. It is believed that his wife died back in North Carolina. Thomas B. George was in LCT as early as 1823. Here is how I currently show William George, Sr.'s Ahnentafel chart (NOTE: LVA = Lancaster Co., VA) 1. William George, Sr. (1756-1847) m. Africa Rogers. 2. William George (d. 1760 LVA). 3. Lucia Stephens. 4. William George (c. 1699 LVA-1760 LVA). 5. Rebecca Martin. 8. William George (c. 1670 VA-1709 VA). 9. Elizabeth Carter (b. 1680 LVA, the dau. of Capt.Thomas Carter & Katherine Dale. 16. Nicholas George (c.1642-c. 1700 LVA) 17. Unknown. (Previously believed to be Elizabeth Ann James. However, evidence now indicates she is more likely his 2nd wife.) 32. Nicholas George (c. 1622 England - c. 1661 LVA) 33 Margaret Horn (d. Abt. 1670). Some researchers have her as Margaret Seward. 64. Nicholas George (d. Abt. 1652 LVA). 65. Ann Phillips. ________________________ Thomas B. George (1803-1888) and his 2nd wife, Lilley Black (c. 1793-1840) are my 3rd great grandparents. Velma, would you please contact me directly. I would love to share more detailed information.
