Dear Lincoln Co. Researchers, I'm working on an elusive Harrison line that I find on the 1830 census in Lincoln Co.--the family of a Benjamin Harrison, b. 1790-1800. I believe this Benjamin is son of Richard and Rachel Dorsey Harrison of Lincoln Co., NC, whose bible shows a son Benjamin b. 1794. This son's whereabouts in his latter years have not been accounted for. Also on the 1830 census in Lincoln Co. is another known son of Richard and Rachel Dorsey--Richard Johnson Harrison. In 1835, Richard Johnson Harrison probated the estate of a Benjamin Harrison in Talladega Co., AL. His securities for the probate of the estate were Alvis Q. Nicks/Nix and Charles Ables/Abels. A biography of Alvis Q. Nicks says he moved from Lincoln Co., TN, to Talladega Co., AL, in 1833. On the 1830 census, I find Charles Ables four doors away from Benjamin Harrison. I think the man whose estate is probated in 1835 in Talladega Co., AL, is the same man who is in Lincoln Co. on the 1830 census. Descendants of a probable son of Benjamin Harrison, Richard Thomas Harrison, have a family story that Richard's father was killed when he was a young man, having been stabbed in a chivaree in southern TN. Richard T. Harrison was b. 1 March 1826 in TN. If anyone has information on the Harrison or Ables families, I'd be very happy to know about it. I am of the opinion that Benjamin Harrison probably married a sibling of Charles Ables. A probable sibling of Richard T. Harrision, Benjamin D. Harrison, who moved from Talladega Co., AL, to Claiborne Psh., LA, named a son Charles A. Harrison. I descend from another sibling, Mary Ann Harrison, who was b. 13 March 1822 in either TN (per the 1870 census) or Talladega Co., AL (per a biography of her son Benjamin Dennis Lindsey). Mary Ann married Mark Jefferson Lindsey on 22 Oct. 1839 in Lawrence Co., AL. Will welcome any information and will gladly share my own. Bill Lindsey
