I am trying to find death notices and/or cemetery records for the following: Griffith CUNNINGHAM, b 15 Aug 1787 in Rowan Co. NC; d. 2 Jul 0867, in LCT Nancy Sloan CUNNINGHAM, b. 1786 in VA, d. 1850 *********************************************** I am not researching this family but what I have for this family: LCT Pioneers Vol. 1, No. 2? page 13. NOTE: Not sure if this is issue number 2 or issue number 1. Top of page says "continued from volume 1, number 1" yet it does not appear to be from volume 1, number 2 Here is what it says: "From the March 25, 1852 Fayetteville Observer: Died: In LCT on 22nd inst. Mrs. Sarah, wife of Griffith Cunningham about 60 years." In the 1850 LCT census in HH 302, Griffith Cunningham is living with wife Nancy b. 1784. Does anyone know if the Nancy on the 1850 census is the same as the Sarah b. 1792 in the obituary in 1852? Are these one and the same? I have a copy of the 1850 mortality index and Nancy Cunningham is not listed. What this means is she probably did not die in the 12 months preceding June 1, 1850. Of course there is always the possibility of an overlooked entry. TO THE LIST: know this question has been asked here before but if you have the answer PLEASE respond. What date is the first issue of the Fayetteville Observer? It has got to be somewhere in the early 1850s. I am nowhere near Fayetteville but if someone on this list is and can check at the library and see where their microfilms start at, I'd appreciate it. And ask them what, if any newspaper existed prior to the Fayetteville Observer? I suspect there was none for a time between the 1828 and 1850's. Maybe they got their news from the Huntsville newspaper. If you have the answer or even part of the answer, please respond. Thanks!
