He was md 2x. 1st to Mary Daniel 10 June 1731 Middlesex Co VA, dau of William Daniel and Mary Moseley. Martinsville, Henry Co VA. dated 23 April, 1787, presented in Court of Henry Co VA 30 Mar 1789. Reads; To my son, John Shelton, five pounds sterling to cut him off from heirship. He remained on these lists until 1828. Mason Ragan to Liberty Shelton, both of Casey Co KY, deed dated 14 April 1823 and 2nd died dated 11 Nov 1824 to George Vandeventto. James married a Willard. [Most researchers believe that Ralph Shelton Sr was not a son of Peter Shelton and his wife Susannah Jackson ]. Our Ralph Shelton b 1685, father of Ralph Shelton Jr, was imported to North America by Thomas Merriweather {Essex Co VA Court Order Book- 1702}. One James Shelton died in Henry Co VA. There is good evidence supporting Lincoln Co TN as place of death of Ralph Shelton's son, James Shelton. Shelton wrote of a Deed dated 12 Oct 1810 Casey Co KY where Vardeman Shelton of the State of TN and County of Lincoln, sold to John Holliday of the State of KY, County of Casey, 63 acres of land bound beginning at Lott Luttrell's, Rhoda Luttrell's, etc. This one deed ties the Casey Co KY Shelton's with the Lincoln Co TN Shelton's. One researcher believes that Rodrick Shelton was a son of Crispen Shelton rather than James Shelton?? James Shelton b 1734 Essex Co VA md Susanna Vardeman.
