I found it in some of my MI books. I moved from MI last fall. The Will was in Flint Genealogical Quarterly, Spring, 1990, Volume 32, No 2, Flint, MI. On above URL mentioned is Aaron Gage [David 3, David 2, Nicholas 1] born June 15, 1758 Woodbury Twp. Orange Co NJ. died 2 Sept 1844, Boonville, Lincoln Co TN. He married Nancy CARTER b May 7, 1758 at Rutherford NC. She died before 1840 at McNairy, Hardin Co TN. Other messages on genforum about the above family are #1667 and #1196. Probably lots more that I did not read to see?. Remember, this is just stuff I found on the internet and must be proven by those descendants of Gage. Son David sailed from Wales, England to New Jersey, landing sometime in early 1730 with his two half brothers. Md 2nd Mrs. Schiffman b Hamburg, Germany. Son Daniel Shiffman Sr. b 1715 Hamburg, Germany. David and his two half brothers, Daniel and Joseph Shiffman was said to have lived about eight miles southeast of Hamburg, on the Elbe River in Germany. The Shipman family was originally named Schiffman. Mr and Mrs Schiffman and their two small sons, Joseph and Daniel, began a trip to Wales where they intended to obtain passage to New Jersey in America. During the trip to Wales or soon after their arrival, Mr. Schiffman died. In a short time, his widow married a man named Gage. Mr. Gage had a son named David. The family was to remain in Wales for some years. By the later 1720's, the boys were of age to continue the planned trip to America by themselves. They are said to have set sail landing on Jersey shores in the early 1730's. It appears that sometime during the voyage the Schiffman name was changed to Shiffman. [ The master and crew Americanized many names]. Joseph Shipman is said to have settled in the New Jersey area. David Gage married Abigail Burleson soon after their arrival. They moved with her parents to Lunenburg Co VA. Daniel Shipman is said to have gone to Pennsylvania Dutch Country. After several years, he was not happy there and removed to Lunenburg, VA. Upon his arrival, he married Abigail's sister, Elizabeth Burleson. David Gage married 2nd Mary ___ bef 1701 in Wales England. Then to McNairy where he lived at the time of his RW pension application. 1790 in 14th Militia Company, Boonville, TN.
