It is very interesting reading about a Shelton line in Lincoln County Tennessee. My GGrandfather, James Shelton Carter was born in 1837 and it is believed to be in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Myself and other family researchers are still trying to prove that. My GGGrandfather was John F. Carter who died in Tippah County, Mississippi in 1850. He married a Catherine who was born in Tennessee.
