    3. Dear List, First my belated condolences to the families below. I would appreciate help in proving a connection stated in a recent obituary. The obituary of Mrs. Doris S. Phelps (d. 9 Dec 2005): "PHELPS, Doris S., 67, of Mulberry, died Friday night (Dec. 9, 2005) at Lynchburg Nursing Home. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sarah Noah Stevenson and a member of the West Fayetteville Church of Christ. She was retired from Blue Ridge and Lincoln Mfg. Survivors include her husband, Charles Phelps; two daughters, Sandra Phelps of Lynchburg and Debbie Page of Lynchburg; two sons, Thomas E. Phelps of Kelso and Larry Phelps of Mimosa; three sisters, Thelma Luna of Boonshill, Linda Smith of Fayetteville and Cathy Braden of McBurg; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bros. David Sain and Ryan Roark officiating. Interment was in Mulberry Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Highland Rim Chapter, 201 West Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, Tenn., 37388." The obituary of Roy Van Jones (d. 20 May 2006): "JONES, ROY VAN, 52, of Kelso, formerly of Dickson, died Saturday (May 20, 2006). Mr. Jones was a native of Coffee County and the son of the late Raleigh E. and Betty Jones. He loved working with computers and was employed by Shiloh Industries in Dickson. Survivors include three sisters, Joanna Barnes of Clarksville, Denise and Rick Henninger of Findley, Ohio, and Thereasa and Tommy Phelps of Kelso; step-mother, Jean Jones of Fayetteville; two step-sisters, Sandra Phelps and Debbie Page of Lynchburg; a step-brother, Larry and Angela Phelps of the Mimosa Community; and two nieces and three nephews. The family will hold a private service at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the U.S. Bank for Education." Roy Van Jones' obituary names his step-mother as JEAN JONES. It also names one of his sisters as Thereasa who married Tommy Phelps (the Thomas E. Phelps named as the son of Doris S. Phelps in her obituary). Then his obituary names the three other children of Doris S. Phelps as his step-sisters and step-brother. (NOTE: Roy Van Jones' obituary does not name Thomas E. Phelps as his step-brother.) I may be missing something obvious, but I don't want to leap to any conclusions (i.e. that "step-sisters" and "step-brother" should really be "sisters-in-law" and "brother-in-law"). Any help in clarifying this connection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jim Danley Vista, CA
