I am interested in the Graves family, especially in Giles Co TN 1801-1850. I descend from Campbell Graves b 1801 census says TN but prob NC. I believe his parents to be John Graves who died pre 1820 Giles Co census and Ann Campbell who was widow with 8 children in that census. She is buried at Shane's Cemetery in Maury Co TN with many of same family. If you have any info on them, please contact me. I am a member of The Ancient Planters Society and have a certificate proving I provided documentation of my family back to Capt Thomas Graves in James City VA 1608. I contact to his line via Eleanor Graves, dau of Thomas, who married John Kimbrough. Through this same line, I have Collier line connection, and Warren line, down to my White family : William White , b 10 Jan 1755 Prince Wm Co VA, d May 6, 1833 LCT. Wife Elizabeth ____ b 1775 NC. Ginny: I have always felt (but never been able to prove) that my Guthrie family was related to the Graves family. My Guthrie family (Robert Guthrie, Sr. and wife Martha Jane Norwood Guthrie) were in Giles Co., Tn. as early as 1812 (per tax list). One of the sons of Robert, Sr. and Martha Jane Norwood Guthrie was Robert Guthrie, Jr. who married Ann Beal. The oldest child of Robert, Jr. and Ann Beal Guthrie was named Granderson GRAVES Guthrie.
