Does the James Broadaway Land from book C page 145 below sound like it could be Frederick Foster's land? I still have Vol II and Vol III to record from these books. I don't see mention of Frederick. Information taken from "Land Deed Genealogy of Lincoln County" by Helen C & Timothy R Marsh Southern Historical Press Inc Vol I Deed Book "A" Page 43 - 21 Sept 1809 deed between Anthony Foster of Davidson County, TN of one part and Tho Leonard of Bedford County, TN of the other part. Said Foster sold to said Leonard a tract of land by patent dated 8th December 1808, Grant No 674 in the second district on the waters of Caine (Cane) Creek, a north branch of Elk River. borders a survey in the name of the heirs of Joshua Lawrence and to entry 103 in the name of A Foster for 640 acres. Witnesses: Gifford Leonard and Thomas Leonard. Registered 23rd August 1810. Page 50 - The State of Tennessee, No 674 - Certificate No 47, dated 17th July 1807, entered 4th day of March 1808 by No 206, granted to Anthony Foster and his heirs, a certain tract of land containing 230 and lying in Bedford County on the waters of Caine (Cane Creek) Page 152 - The State of Tennessee, No 1364 - A Grant from the State of TN to Malcum Gilchrist for 25 acres of land on Little River. By virture of part of Certificate No 269 dated 18th aug 1807, obtained from board of Commissioners by Benjamin McCulloh and entered 20th December 1808 by No 1064. There is granted unto Malcum gilgrist, assignee of sain Benjamin McCulloh, a tract of land lying in Bedford County in the Second district on the head waters of Little River a north branch of Elk River. Land borders Anthony Foster's tract the same being south west corner to Thomas Ryan Butler's entry No 218 for 434 acres. surveyed 20th January 1809. Registered in Lincoln county 11th January 1811. Page 258 - 26th July 1810 - Deed from David B Philips to Henry Foster for 100 avres of land lying on Norris Creek. David B Philips of Lincoln county of one part and Henry Foster of same place of other part. The two tracts of land in Lincoln Co on the waters of the west fork of Norris Creek, a branch of Elk River. One tract of 50 acres being part of 880 acres granted to Robert Kennedy by the State of North Carolina and conveyed by said Robert Kennedy to David B Philips, the second tract containing 50 acres granted to the said Robert Kennedy by the state of TN and conveyed by said Robert Kennedy to David B Phillips on the waters of the west fork of Norris Creek. Witnesses: Wm Edmiston and Wm E Kennedy. Registered 9th May 1811. Deed Book "B" Page 9 - 3rd April 1811 - Deed from John Umphres of Lincoln Co, TN of one part and Isaiah Foster of Franklin Co, TN of other part for a tract of land being in Lincoln County on a creek called Farris Creek and bounded by Armstead Stubblefield's 640 acres tract and Richard cook's line. (I missed coping the next page that the rest of this is recorded on) Page 34 - 10th July 1811 - A Deed from Anthony Foster of Nashville, TN to James Greer of Lincoln Co, TN for 400 acres, being a part of a 640 acre tract granted by the State of TN to said Anthony Foster by Grant No 451 dated 1st Sept 1808, being in Lincoln Co on the waters of middle fork of Cane Creek a north branch of Elk River and bounded by lands in the name of the heirs of Joshua Lawrence, being the corner of Grant No 451. Witnesses: Wm Edmiston and M W Gilchrist. Registered 11 Feb 1814 Page 160 - 9th August 1807 - Deed from John Wilson of Williamson Co, TN to John Foster of same place for 44 72/160 acres of land in Williamson County, TN on the east branch of Swan Creek, waters of Elk Rivers and joining said Foster's corner of a 200 acre tract bought of said Wilson and John Davis' line. Registered 16th Aug 1821. Page 175 - (no date) - David Clarke to Lemuel Broadaway a tract of land (part of this instrument incomplete) witnesses: John Woodey and Hugh T Dunn. Registered 13th December 1821. Page 190 - 23rd July 1822 - Deed from Thomas Buchanan to Samuel Buchanan for 50 acres adjoining land granted to Robert Kennedy by the State of North Carolina and conveyed by David B Phillips and from Phillips toHhenry Foster. Containing 50 acres. The second tract containing 50 acres granted to said Kennedy by the State of TN and conveyed to David b Phillips and from Phillips to Henry Foster and grom Foster to Thomas buchanan. Land in Lincoln Co, TN on the waters of the west fork of Norris Creek a branch of Elk River. Witnesses; Henry Clift and Reuben Moore. Registered 20th Dec 1822. Whereas by the Last Will and Testament of Abednego Foster, deceased, which will is of record in Lincoln Co, TN, we are entitled as tenants in common to a fee simple interest in remainder to take effect and be united with the possession after the death of Nancy Foster who has a life estate in the same in a tract of land in Lincoln co, and District No 5 on the waters of the west fork of Mulberry Creek and containing 135 acres and joining lands of Jesse Ellis and a line of Henry Wagoner and a corner of Benjamin Rudd's land. Money for property was paid to W M Foster $1777.00 and to Filey Ann Foster $194.00 and also Carolina Foster $194.0 this 28th July 1856. Surveyed by William Edminston, D S. Said land was a grant from the State of Tn No 2986 and dated march 23rd 1812. Witnesses: Benjamin Marshall and Henry Foster. Registered May 24 1814. Page 145 - Nov 7 1814 - Deed from William Hodges of Lincoln Co, TN to James Broadaway of same place for 100 acres of land in second district and on the waters of the east fork of Swan Creek a branch of Elk River adjoining Robert Kennedy's survey and William T Lewis' survey and William Bevers' corner. Registered Dec 5th 1814 Page 390 - Aug 31 1815 - Deed from Michael Campbell in his own right and as executor of Phillip Phillips of Davidson County, TN to Samuel Caple of Lincoln Co, TN for 189 acres of land in Lincoln Co, TN on a west branch of Cold Water Creek a south branch of Elk River and adjoining a corner of a 640 acre tract in the name of Boyd & Hacket. Said land granted by the State of TN to Phillip Phillips & Michael Campbell by Patent No 6230. Witnesses: Eldridge B Robertson and Ephraim H Foster. Registered Nov 3 1815. Page 391 - _day of _ 1815 - deed from Michael Campbell in his own right and as executor of Phillip Phillips of Davidson Co, TN to William Townzen of Lincol Co, TN for 441 acres of land in Lincoln Co, TN lying on both sides of Cold Water Creek a south branch of Elk River and adjoining a tract in the name of Boyd & Hacket.
