Will of Joshua Gibson, deceased I, Joshua Gibson, of Lincoln County and state of Tennessee, being sick and weak of body, but, of sound mind and disposing memory, for which I thank God, and calling to mind the uncertainly of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldy substance as it hath pleased God to bless me with, i give and bequeath to Newton M. Buchanan, the son of Samuel S. Buchanan, the tract of land that I now live on, it being a tract of land bought of Robert Brandon, on the waters of Cane Creek. I give and bequeath to Andrew J.Buchanan, the son of Samuel S. Buchanan, the tract of land that I bought of John H. Gibson, on the waters of Buchanan's Creek, 187 acres more or less. I give and bequeath to William S. Buchanan, the son of Samuel S. Buchanan, my negro man Dick. I give and bequeath to Samuel S. Buchanan, all my interest and claim I have in a tract of land that Samuel S. Buchanan and myself bought of Francis L. Kincannon on the water of Cane Creek, about a ninety acre tract, the said Samule S. Buchanan must pay his son John M. Buchanan or cause it to be paid, the sum of three hundred dollars for my interest in the above named Kincannon tract of land. It is my will and desire that all the remainder of my perishable property be sold immediately after my decease, and that my Executors hereinafter named, after paying my funeral expenses and what debts I may owe, do equally divide the surplus, if any, among Samuel S. Buchanan's four daughters, Louisa, Margaret, Julia, and Maryanna. It is my will and desire that my Executors as aforesaid, do equally divide all the money I may die possessed of, and all money which may be due me at my death, so soon as it can be collected equally among SamuelS. Buchanan's four daughters. And, finally, I do hereby constitute and appoint James Fulton and Samuel S. Buchanan, Executors of this my last will and testament, by me heretofore made. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty-first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seven, in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
