    1. Will of Samuel Buchannan
    2. Will of Samuel Buchanan, deceased State of Tennessee, Lincoln County I, Samuel Buchanan, do make and publish this as my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. First, I direct that my funeral expences and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executors. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Sally Buchanan, the profits of my plantation for the purpose of raising my children, and then to have her third part during her life, also to have use of my household and kitchen furniture, and as muh of the stock as will be necessary for thier benefit of raising, though to be under the control of my Executors, and likewise to have all of my farming tools for the benefit of the farm. Thirdly, I wish my negros to be kept under the care of my Executors for to help raise my children, then to be divided equally among all my children, my wife to have her part. The number of my negroes is as follows, one negro woman and five children, two boys and three girls. Fourtly, I wish my sons, James H. Buchannan and Simpson Buchannan, for thier labor in helping raise the rest of the children, I wish my Executors to pay them what they think is right out of the crop or stock, that the raise to be paid yearly to them and not charged to them in thier part of the legacy, and my younger son, William Buchannan to have the same allowance when able to work with the rest and make a hand. I wish my negro woman Luanne to remain in the family for the purpose of raising my children. Fifthly, I allow my daughter Mary's two children, James Tooley and Preston Tooley, to have an equal part with the rest of my children, counting what she recieved. I allow all to share equal in the division. i do hereby nominate and appoint William H. Tooley, and James M. Davis my Executors.
