Hi Dave, you probably don't want to discount the possibility back then of it being spelled "Baird". i belive i saw this a number of times in early TN records, including the Donalson trip and later in life in Lincoln Co TN. (don't hold me to the locations, as this is vague memory when i was researching my Stewart's and thought perhaps I had found a possible link between the Baird/Beard line and my Stewart/Stuart line. info'ing the LCT list here as well in case you don't subscribe to it. Regards from 6600 ft, Dick Stewart =========================== In searching the Lowndes County Marriage records, I have come across an ancestor, Eliza E DONALDSON, my great grand aunt. The US Gen Web listing at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/lowndes/vitals/marriages/book1l_z.tx t lists her spouse as William F "RIARD". According to my records, his surname was "BEARD". Does anyone have access to copies of the original documents to clarify the correct surname? I would appreciate the input. Thanks you, Dave Robison PO Box 3685 Springfield, MA 01101-3685 Researching Amis, Bassett, Dickson/Dixon, Dunn, Fish, Grantham, Lillie, Peace, Robison/Robinson/Robertson, West and others
Can the researcher of the Beard family line please contact me? Ginny K
Dave - if you are researching Amis you might be looking for Bahr or Barr or Baird as you say. The Germans saying it it would sound like Bar and not Bear I have been told.
