I also have some tombstone photos that cousin Mike Foster provided. While visiting Winchester, which is my mom's hometown, I neglected to visit Keith Springs cemetary where they are buried. But I hope to visit there again this year. I don't have that much on Martha's family. In the 1880 census they were in Jackson Co, AL Charles Tankersley age 31 b. AL f: NC m. GA Rhoda Tankersley age 27 b. AL f:AL m. AL Martha Tankersley age 9 b. AL Mary E. Tankersley age 7 b. AL Lucinda Tankersley age 6 b. AL Charlie Tankersley age 4 b. AL Nancy Tankersley age 1 b. AL It seems Charles TANKERSLEY and some of the family (they had other children after Nancy) moved to Texas after that 1880 census. But obviously Martha stayed in the Franklin County area since she married Levi. There are some questions I have about our Charles TANKERSLEY being the son of Bennett TANKERSLEY...I haven't gotten enough proof to satisfy me. Also, I'm confused about the fact that in the census above Charle's spouse is named Rhoda, while everything else I've seen say Charles married a woman named Denny Elizabeth GIFFORD >shrug< Here is a link to a genforum message that I posted last month, the reply is from a woman who seems to have a lot of knowledge of the Tankersleys. Please feel free to correct anything I might have gotten wrong. I'm always looking for cousins to help me add info, photos and family stories. This is great to meet a Steel cousin. I am descended Isaac >Eli >Levi >Andrew Jackson >James Levi. Andrew was from the first wife whose name we do not know. All I have is that her last name was Oder and she was from Missouri. I got that from the death certificate of James Valentine Steele, Andrew's brother who is buried Forest Hills Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee. I have Barney married to Lena Cecil Money and from my notes have that Nellie weighed just 2 pounds when born. Is that right? Do you have info on siblings of Barney? I'll go check out your site. Please stay in touch. You too Joy! On Irt I have a little more detail Irton G. Steele b. May 1909, d. July 08, 1938, buried Keith Springs Mountian, Franklin County TN Andrew Jackson married Emmalene Elizabeth Morris August 04, 1900 in Franklin Co, TN. I don't have exact death date, but he died Abt. 1943. He killed a man and went to jail in 1941 or 2. I have tried to find info on the court case without luck. The Jackson County Court House was temporarily missing those files and I could not find the case in the paper although I'm sure it is in there somewhere. He died about a year later in Alabama State prison, but I don't know how to find out when, although again I'm sure records exist. He is buried at Keith Springs with wife Emma, but grave have just a marker from funeral home. He remarried a women named Ida Bet. 1918 - 1920 in AL but I have little info on her as yet. She is the woman my father and aunts and uncles remember as grandmother since Emma died 1918. I have all of Andrews children if you want that info I'll send later. Cindy died at an early age. Her dress caught fire and she was burned. I have her living between 1910-1920 only Joseph C. Steele b. April 1892 d. May 01, 1960. I would like to look up his death certificate and see who he lists as father. Anyway, he is buried just up the road from Levi and Martha at Little Mountain Cemetery, Keith Springs MT, Franklin County, TN. He married Susan b. March 04, 1884 d. March 28, 1963 Jerome Jackson Steele, just have full name Rhoda Milissa Steele b. September 07, 1899 d.July 20, 1985 I have husband James F. Stubblefield dying April 25, 1967 in Harvey, IL but not sure where info came from so your may be correct. Will have to look into that. Probably amix up from Charlie D. Alice died of a gunshot wound at age 12 I have a picture of Andrew if you would like to add it to your website, which is great by the way. I wasable to add much info to my files Michaele
