Peggy - To get to the RootsWeb lists do the following 1. go to www.RootsWeb.com 2. Click on "Mailing Lists" at the top of the page. 3. Scroll down and click on "TN" for example under the "USA" category; there are a host of other categories you can choose from on this page depending upon your specific interests. I've subscribed to about a dozen of them. 4. Scroll down and click on a county such as "Gibson" which was referred to in previous post. 5. If you've subscribed to a bunch of mailing lists and can't remember which ones, go here - http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail3.html#Q5 which is accessed by scrolling down the RootsWeb opening page to "Help" in the right-hand column, and clicking on "FAQs and Help-Related Resources" 6. Scroll down to "Mailing Lists" category and click on "Subscriber Questions" 7. Click on "#5, I forget which list I subscribed to....Help!", and follow the directions there. I might add that RootsWeb is starting to accumulate a good assortment of user submitted databases (free), such as Alumni, Births, Cemeteries, Deaths, Deeds, Divorces, Marriages, Obituaries etc. It will only be as good as folks like us submit information. On the surface, it appears to be more user friendly that GenWeb for submittals, but that's only a personal opinion on my part. Some of my favorite genealogy related sites include Ancestry.com, RootsWeb.com, FamilySearch.org, Linkpendium.com, raogk.org, and findagrave.com. All have a wealth of material and are constantly being upgraded. Sidney
I love FamilySearch.org. Sometimes I stay on that one for hours. I also get on RootsWeb a lot. I have used findagrave and like it. Ancestor.com is not free is it? I have not heard of linkpendium.com and raogh.org but will to see what. Thanks.
