Jane: I do not know where district 23 was in 1850. From the census I have, by book form, does not have a Civil district 23 so I am at a lost. The Lynchburg area I believe was in Subdivision 2 on the 1850 census. After Moore broke off of Lincoln CO., in 1870 district 23 was in the Kelso area. There is a 1870 Civil District map at our web site wwwchestnutridgecousins.org. Surf there and you will find it.
