Am trying to find info on Woodson Turner. Woodson is on the 1820 and 1830 census in Lincoln Co., TN. Living next door to him, on the 1820 census, is Wm. Wainwright, who married Nancy B. Turner abt. ?1825 in Lincoln Co., TN. Would like to know ( or know where I can look for the info), who Woodson's parents, siblings and children were. I strongly believe that his parents were Pleasant Turner and Agnes Woodson. Pleasant and Agnes were married abt. 1781 in Goochland Co., VA. I suspect (given the naming patterns of the 18th & 19th century), that Woodson is their son. Also believe that Nancy is their daughter. So if anyone can tell me where I can view a listing of the children of Pleasant and Agnes or has them in their database that they would share with me I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much, Mary
Hello Mary, The best way that I have been able to do this - is to go or write to the courthouse of the county they lived in and ask for a Probate Record or Will Record for any particular person, especially when we get back behind the 1850 census, which is the last one to name the children of the families. Sometimes this is hard to do, when we do not know which county they died in....so that takes some more census searching, to find out which county they lived in during their old age. Hope this helps you. Jeanette. Don't know how much help this will be: There was a Woodson and Hunt family Brush Creek, Smith Co TN. The Turney, Turner and Gilley family were also in Smith Co TN at same time, but on Clear Fork which later was Dekalb right next to Cannon Co Tn. Anyway, two Woodson sisters about 1843 moved to Lawrence Co MO.....Lucinda was 1st married in TN to Elijah Breedon and moved to MO from Smith Co TN with him, he died, she married my Spencer Gilley in MO. Her sister married in TN to Daniel Hunt and moved with Breedons to Lawrence Co MO. Just thought since some of the Turney, Timmons, Gilliam group moved to LCT mid 1820s......and they connect to the group in Smith Co TN, this might be true of your Woodson Turner also.
