    3. William Strong went to LCT c1830 from Chester Co., SC and some believe that William had married S. Matilda in SC and in addition to a daughter Malinda had more children. A Mrs. S. Matilda Strong, May 1800- Apr. 7, 1887, is buried in the Catholic Prebyterian Church in Chester Co., adjacent to her parents Rev. Robert and Margaret McCullugh. Malinda is buried next to her mother and her marker identifies as the dau. of William and Matilda Strong. William married Mary B. Harper somewhere and they had a large family and lived in LCT. Their first children were Martha (b c1833) and Isabella (born Dec. 1835) married George Riley Allen. Isabella and George named a dau. Mary Harper. Surely she would not use that name had her fathers wife had left him. Divorce could only be granted by the SC legislature and was the case until 1865. SC legislative papers are complete and a divorce was not granted nor was there a petition for one. Todate, I have been unable to find William in TN until Oct. of 1833 when he witnessed a transaction by Hugh Parkinson. I do believe Sarah Matilda did marry a William Strong but it was not the William who went to TN. William's first wife was Margaret McDill who died in 1827. Can anyone help me on this ? .

    3. Norman, You'll find a detailed posting on this line by Roger Dellinger at http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/S/STRONG+1997+15104001242+F. He shows William Strong of SC and LCT to have been married 3 times. He shows William and second wife Matilda to have been divorced in 1833 in TN. Robert Strong (through John Strong of LCT, a different Strong line) http://azstrong.tripod.com/harry_alice
