    1. [TNLINCOL] Opps! Saffir Isom
    2. James L. Danley
    3. Dear List, That's what I get for rushing. Saffir Isom is actually a female. So the S-in-law is for SISTER-in-law. However, there is still no sister, Saffir Isom, for Amelia V. Isom. Unless what looks like "Saffir" is really supposed to be "Sarah." James L. Danley Vista, CA jldanley@sbcglobal.net

    1. [TNLINCOL] George W. Crabtree & Arnealy "Nellie" Isom
    2. James L. Danley
    3. Dear List, For Saffir Isom to be a stepson of George W. Crabtree, his age would have to be much younger. Of course it won't work with him being 1 year older than Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) Isom. James L. Danley Vista, CA jldanley@sbcglobal.net

    1. [TNLINCOL] George W. Crabtree & Arnealy "Nellie" Isom
    2. James L. Danley
    3. Dear List, The obituary of Charles C. Crabtree is published in the "Lincoln County News," issue dated Jun 10, 1937 (thanks to Dwight Winsett's posting to the following website: http://www.usgwarchives.org/tn/lincoln/obits.html ). "Crabtree "Funeral services for Charles Crabtree, 41, who died Tuesday of a skull fracture when a lever used in stretching fence wire flew back and hit him in the head, were conducted by Rev. R. S. Brown. Mr. Crabtree, a farmer, who lived near Petersburg, was constructing some new fences on his farm when the accident occurred. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorene Irwin Crabtree; four daughters, Virginia, Robbie, Dorothy and Myra Crabtree; a son, Thomas Crabtree, and his mother, Mrs. Arnealy Crabtree. Mr. Crabtree was a school bus driver in addition to his farming activities. He was a World War veteran, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church." The 1900 LCT census (11th Civil District) has the following household: HH 94-94 Crabtree, G. W., Junr. Feb 1853 47 TN NC TN M. V. Wife Mar 1858 42 TN GA TN (married 13 yrs) Charly C. Son Aug 1895 4 TN TN TN Isom, Saffir (?) S-in-law May 1857 43 TN GA TN I believe this couple to be George W. Crabtree (b. 1853; d. 17 Jun 1926) and Nellie Isom who married on 13 Jan 1887 in LCT. And their son, Charly C. Crabtree, to be the subject of the above obituary. However, I am trying to reconcile Charles C. Crabtree's mother's name. The LCT marriage record has George W. Crabtree's wife as "Nelie Isom." The 1900 LCT census has her as "M. V." The obituary has her as "Mrs. Arnealy Crabtree." I can see Nellie being a nickname for Arnealy. But where does the "M. V." come in? Or is the "M" another nickname, "Melia?" Now then the 1900 LCT census record identifies Saffir Isom as George W. Crabtree's "SON-in-law." I believe that to be an error and that he might really be a brother-in-law OR possibly a stepson (more later). I have tried locating Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) Isom and/or possible brother, Saffir Isom, in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 census records. The closest I find for her is Amelia V. Isom, the daughter of Clayborne H. Isom/Isham and Parthenia S. Parkes (married previously to a TURKER or TUCKER). In 1860 she is listed as "Amelia" (age 3) and in 1870 she is listed as "A. V" (age 14). The fact that she has the middle initial "V." is encouraging. HOWEVER, there is no brother, Saffir Isom, in either census: 1860 LCT Census (11th Civil District) HH 1190-1106 C. H. Isams 40 TN Parthena 39 TN William 16 TN James 15 TN Martha 13 TN Mary 11 TN Tranquilla 9 TN Malinda 7 TN Sarah 5 TN Amelia 3 TN 1870 LCT Census (11th Civil District) HH 101-101 Isom, C. H. 52 TN Parthenia 50 TN James A. 24 TN Martha C. 21 TN Mary F. 19 TN Malinda 17 TN Tranquilla 18 TN Sarah 16 TN A. V. 14 TN Could it be that Saffir Isom is neither a brother-in-law or son-in-law of George W. Crabtree, but rather a stepson? Could Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) have been married previously to an ISOM? Any information that might confirm that Charles C. Crabtree is, in fact, the son of George W. Crabtree; that "Arnealy," "Nellie," and "M. V." are the same person would be greatly appreciated. And any information that confirms Arnealy "Nellie" (M. V.) parents and Saffir Isom's parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! James L. Danley Vista, CA jldanley@sbcglobal.net

Not sure why this is but I believe that for some reason the full linkage has not been posted or used. if you are unable to gain access to the photo by clicking on the linkage enclosed in the posting, try highlighting the linkage, copying, then pasting that in your URL window. The problem seems to be that when you clink on the linkage enclosed in the message, the whole linkage is not used. Also, you might try maximizing your page. I am re-posting the message with the full linkage and will make sure this is included in the message prior to posting. Sorry for the inconvenience John ******************************************************************************************************** List Members, I have a photo here of the Sunday School class of the Ardmore Baptist Church taken about 1950. So far, one person has been postively identified, first row, 2nd from the right is Bertha Caroline (Lewter) Sisk. 1. [TNLINCOL] Lincoln Co. TN Heritage Book Pictures
    2. Diane Casey
    3. Hello- If you have any of the pictures already scanned from the Lincoln Co. TN Heritage Book, please email to me privately. I am attempting to link them to their record in the 1850 Annotated Census and hope to have them on the web pages. It's easier to get them this way than to find that huge book into a scanner. J http://www.azcaseys.com/lookups/lct1850/index.html Diane P.S. don't send them to the list - I don't think it accepts attachments.
