    1. [TNLINCOL] LCT Heritage book binding
    2. Hi, Don. Re your apparent relocation to Germany, was this a military move? Have made one of those myself to Spain and found that the packing of goods is not the best quality and had books of mine that were the worse for it. If the book was just slightly askew and weighted down with other books, the spine binding could have loosened thus allowing the sealant adhesive to dry out while on the bookshelf. Solved this problem on the move back by packing the books myself into a metal footlocker, well-padded to avoid shifting. Perhaps a bookbinder could repair the damage? Just a thought... Also re trying to flatten for photocopying, I think most larger libraries have a special copy machine whereby only one-half the book needs to go under the lid, taking any pressure off the spine, although I have not done this yet myself. 3. I printed our family tree for all my cousins as a Christmas gift. I got binders and got Acid Free, Archival Safe, No Print or Ink Transfer, Non-Glare Sheet Protectors at Sam's in Franklin, TN to put the sheets in. The binders come in different size,. 4 to a package (less than 7.00 for the 4). I printed a title sheet to go in the outside pocket and a slender title to go in the rib pocket. There is a small pocket in the front and back inside of the binder. Maybe you can use this method with your books. 3. Hi Richard, And I thought it was me, for I am hard on my books. I got the last Cemetery book and had to beg for it. They did not want to sell it to me for it was damaged. After about a year mine too was falling apart. So this is what I did. I took it all apart (which was not hard) used a 3 hole punch to put 3 holes in each page. They all fit nicely in a 2 1/2 inch 3 ring note book. The note book has a pocket on the outside of the binder so as to slip in a preprinted title for the book. I printed out in bold letters CEMETERY. Having to ware glasses this really helps me find it on my book shelf. I am finding that I am going to have to do the same with Marsh's LCT marriage records book. As it is smaller I have not found a binder as yet for it. I may even have to put the pages in protective sheets as the pages are getting dog eared. In that case I will have to go to a regular size binder. After Mr. Lewter told me how much it was going to cost to reprint the Dean Porch 1850 LCT census that had notes by his wife, I understand why books are printed and bound as they are. To make them properly the customer could not afford the book. Please call 1-800-233-0152 and let them know if you are willing to buy it. On a separate topic: you can search for titles of millions of books and find out what libraries hold them at: http://www.worldcat.org/ A search of "Lincoln County Tennessee" retrieves 579 books. Don't forget to do a separate search for: Lincoln County TN Lincoln County Tenn Lincoln Co TN Lincoln Co Tenn Naturally, you can search for families and other counties too. For example, "Dance family" WorldCat doesn't provide any data from within the book, just the author, title, date and the names of libraries where the book is located. If the library is remote, your local library may be able to borrow the book for you through Inter-library loan usually at no cost. Hard to believe, but some libraries offer an online "Ask a Librarian" feature where you can get help on a specific book. Happy Hunting, George

    3. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the Nixon family. I have recently found out that my ancestor from Lincoln County, Wiley Alexander Hobbs was adopted in 1858- 1860 by the Hobbs Family( John W. and Alley). I found them in the 1860,1870,1880 census records. Wiley was born 4/1858 with the last name Nixon and his parents died or were killed. We are trying to find out his birth parents names. I was wondering if there were any court records of a will or guardianship between the two families. Or if the Nixon family were listed in the tax rolls for 1858 or 1859. We are desperately trying to locate our lost family line. Any help would be appreciated.
