    2. Sorry to be so late with this Here we go MONTGOMERY Ireland 1765 / SC 1790 /NC / 1790 Ark. and Michigan 1851 to present , WISEMAN , LYNCH MO / KY / Tenn / Virginia , SODEN Ky / New Jersey , Arkansas, FERGUSON Scotland / Penns / NC , HILDRETH NY / Ky , VAUGHAN , RIGGS , FLEEMAN , TRINKLE , THROCKMORTON , WRAY , LITTLE , WOODRUFF , BEEBE, GLENN and many more. Any one that would like to take a look you can find out tree at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pabst2. We would be glad to share with any one . Jim and Judy ( Shuck ) Montgomery up here in South Haven Michigan now. JIM M. For one of our brick walls see below: LOOKING FOR SOPHRONIA/SAFRONIA Sophronia D. Wiseman was born February 24,1851 in Arkansas, and died May 8th, 1904 in Arkansas. She married James Ferguson Montgomery 6 July 1871. She is buried in Humphries Cemetery, Fulton County, Arkansas. We found that the middle initial "D." was the name Davenport. The children of Sophronia D. Wiseman and James Ferguson Montgomery are Mary Frances Montgomery born about. 1873, Alfred T. Montgomery born April 14, 1874, Izard County, Arkansas and died 25 March 1964. He is buried in the Wiseman Cemetery, Wiseman Arkansas. Amanda Elizabeth Patterson Montgomery, born October 1883 in Arkansas. William Ignatius Montgomery born 11 September 1886, Morriston, Arkansas. He died June 1965. Buried in the Marked Tree Cemetery, Marked Tree, Arkansas. Lilly Leeonis Montgomery born 31 March 1880, Fulton County, Arkansas. Samuel Leondis Montgomery born 31 March 1890, Morriston, Arkansas. He died 9 February 1984. We found Sophronia in the 1870 Fulton County census living in the Wiley C. King household and in the 1880 and 1900 Fulton County census married to James. What we are really looking for is some information about her parents and/or siblings. On every census we have found, her parents and Sophronia weresupposedly born in Arkansas. In the 1850 census there were three Wiseman's living in Fulton County, that we know of, so we are pining our hopes on oneof th m. They were all in Union Township on page 158, Thomas and Mary, Absolem and Nancy and Davenport and Matilda. Part of E-Mail 1 Feb 2001 from: Charles and Dee Colvin chrdcol@gte.net Hi Judie? Nice to meet a distant cousin!! Yes, my mother use to speak of Sophronia Davenport WISEMAN, and her name is among those that were in the family Bible. (Note it was a King Family Bible per Dee Colvin) The Bible has Safronia D. Wiseman Born 24 February 1851 Married James F. Montgomery 6 July 1871 We have also had a letter from Mr. Tom Chapman who is researching the Wiseman family. He wrote: "You can be sure that Sophronia is a descendant of either Martin or Davenport Wiseman - brothers, whose families settled in Arkansas. They lived for quite a few years in Tennessee but were natives of North Carolina - sons of Thomas and Cordelia Wiseman. Thomas was the first son of William and Mary (Davenport ) Wiseman." Thanks in advance Jim and Judy (Shuck) Montgomery up here in South Haven, Michigan Jim

    2. Mary Miller
    3. My Timothy Carpenter as I said was one of the early ministers in that frontier area - and he is in the early records of the Methodist church on the frontier. Reading about him is so interesting.....I have also looked at the early records of the German Baptist or Dunkers in Ohio since the same thing was happening in the Valley of VA in 1750s-1770s......German speaking people, many of them Mennonites, Lutherans, etc.....often groups traveled together to the new world and their minister came with them. Others had church service in their homes....as time went on they also needed ministers. Lutheran ministers from PA mostly in the summer would go on a mission into the area of Winchester, Woodstock, etc in the Valley of VA. They would perform marriages, and often enter them in their records back at their home church in PA. Interesting looking for records of births and deaths, weddings.....some you find, many you don't. It seems all the religious groups lacked enough ministers for the growing church......one of the first things a group wanted on the frontier seems to be a church. Reading about those early men who were ministers is so interesting. And to have one as an ancester is really great. I am sure the same thing happened as people moved to the west coast. There were several new religions formed here in America as a result of that need. 2. Meliassa, Nice to hea from you. Did you try that web sight for Cumberland Pres.Church? I copied and printed it out and found a Robert Bell and a William Moore. Wondered if Robert Bell might be kin to James M. Bell of Mt. Hebron. The Moore is spelled with an e but not unusual to drop or add a letter to a name in those days. My family and relations appear several times in the Hebron Minuets. D. B. SHULL was my g. grandfather and the Sorells, McKenzies, Ingles and Yowell are all related. My greatest delight was finding my fatther's name on rolls Daniel Boone SHULL Oct 2, 1900. That is the nly time I have seen his name speled SHULL. My name is SCHULL but the origional Dutch name was SCHOLL. 1. Re: [LCT] Bradley, Brooks, Hall, Jones, King, Morgan, Whitfield, Wooten
    2. Rita, Could you tell me a little about your Whitfield line. It seems that the name Whitfield comes up a lot as a middle name of those I am researching in the LCT Wright line. On the 1850 LCT census is a (William) Whitfield Twitty from SC, he is married to Martha Ann Wright from NC. The name Whitfield is then used in some of the NC Wright's childrens name.
