    2. Jim, It is a typo. I looked up the Burns/McNatt marriage and found it was performed by M. M. (Major) Bedwell, M.G. This was before Major Bedwell was defrocked for his beliefs regarding baptism and immersion. Among the accusers was his son John Burton Bedwell's future father-in-law Francis Wells. Sonja

    3. Dear Sonya, The will abstract does have "...daughter Nancy wife of Major Bedwell, daughter Sarah wife of John Teel, daughter Nancy wife of William McNatt..." It must just be a typo. The first "Nancy" should probably be "Mary." I have not seen the original. I agree, it is Lucinda's daughter Mary White who married Major Bedwell. Thanks for pointing that out. 3. The Marsh transcription of Lucinda White's will contains several errors. I am currently not at home and do not have access to my research material. As Sonia mentioned, Mary White was married to William McNatt. Christiana was married to Leven Benson, NOT Leon Bonner. The Willis White of the will is my ggg-grandfather. Those of you with the will book might want to make notations correcting these names. Marleen Van Horne

    3. Dear Joy, Here are two will abstracts for the book "Abstracts of Wills Lincoln County Tennessee -- 1810 - 1895," by Helen & Timothy Marsh: Page 54 (LCT Will Book #2) "page 2 CHARLES McNatt. Wife Elizabeth McNatt. Children: John McNatt, James McNatt, Sarah McNatt, Sophia McNatt, Nancy Burns, Mary Wright, and a step-daughter Lucinda Cobb. Executor: Daniel Warren. Signed: X. Oct 2, 1847. Witness: A. G. Harris and J. E. Prosser and James Raby." Page 75 (LCT Will Book #2) "page 298 LUCINDA WHITE. Daughter Elizabeth wife of Charles McNatt, daughter Christiana wife of Leon Bonner, daughter Mahala wife of Benjamin Fanning, daughter Nancy wife of Major Bedwell, daughter Sarah wife of John Teel, daughter Nancy wife of William McNatt, Heirs of Son Willis White, and daughter Matilda wife of Thomas White. Executor: Thomas S. Williams. Signed: X, April q4, 1852. Witness: Peter C. Webster and Jacob Stonebraker. Proven Sept 1859." I have that John Burns' wife, Nancy McNatt, is the daughter of Charles C. McNatt & Elizabeth White. That Elizabeth White is the daughter of Samuel White & Lucinda ______ . I also have that Elizabeth White was previously married to John Cobb, withwhom she had Lucinda Cobb. Sorry, I don't have anything regarding the wives of John Burns & Nancy McNatt's sons. Jim Danley Vista, CA jldanley@sbcglobal.net

    3. Joy, I don't know about the McNatt family, but I do know there was a Charles McNatt in 1850 Lincoln County who was age 70 and had wife Elizabeth 58 and a Sarah age 18 in their household. This Charles may be a grandfather to your Nancy. I also have Burns in my line and some of my Nichols married into the Holly line and found in Giles County. I would like to learn about the Holly's. 2. List Members & Cousins, Cousin Julia Molitz seems to always be able to find good information. I have found the following to be quite informative about several of our ancestors around the Chestnut Ridge area. It tells of families on both sides of the Bedford and Lincoln County lines. The site is http://www.javero.com/clan/index.shtml This prompted me to look at some of the census records and then some questions occurred. The 1860 10th District, Lincoln County, (Petersburg Post Office), dwelling houses visited in order of visitation, no. 1363, listed James Moore 39, born abt. 1821; Francis 24; Tempy 3 The 1870 10th District, Lincoln County, (Mulberry Post Office), dwelling houses visited in order of visitation, no. 184, listed James Moore 42, born abt 1828; Francis Moore 30; Tempie 12, at school; William 10, at school; George 8, at school; John 6; Martha 4; Thomas 2. There is very much an age difference in what the enumerator put down for James and Francis but I believe that they are the same family.  Now looking at the ages I also looked at the 1850 Census Sub Division 2, Lincoln County; listed is John Moore, Head of the Household age 48, b. abt 1802 in South Carolina, Mary Moore 41, James Moore 21, William G. Moore 20, John M. Moore 17, Thomas F. Moore 16, Mary Moore 14, Nancy Moore 12, Martha Moore 10, Hugh P. Moore 7, Alfred M. Moore 2 The question is the son James Moore in the 1850 census the same as the head of the household in the 1860 and 1870 Census? Could this John Moore that is the head of the household in the 1850 census also have migrated from South Carolina with the Fosters, Medlins, Armstrongs, Gibsons Roberts and the others that are listed in the web link that Julia had sent me above? Thank you! Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net
