Hey Vicki, The 1870 LCT census shows an A. Moore, age 21 and female, living in the household of John H Moore and Margaret. Their daughter, Anna, would have been about 47 at that time. Do you think this is Andrew Newton and the gender is incorrect? Lincoln County was formed in 1809 from Bedford County, so you would have to check Bedford County and before that I think you would have to check Rutherford and Davidson County. Thank you Vicki on the below info. I had Sarah buried in ND but had no place of death or burial for Andrew Newton or that he continued his ministry. Vicki, you may want to sent to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Archives in Nashville Andrew N. Moore's biography. I do not recall seeing it on their web site. Jane: I do not know where district 23 was in 1850. From the census I have, by book form, does not have a Civil district 23 so I am at a lost. The Lynchburg area I believe was in Subdivision 2 on the 1850 census. After Moore broke off of Lincoln CO., in 1870 district 23 was in the Kelso area. There is a 1870 Civil District map at our web site wwwchestnutridgecousins.org. Surf there and you will find it. Robert: You have sent to me your Moore spread sheet. I have it on disk as well as printed out. The name Frank may be short for Franklin. Franklin was used a lot as a middle name in the different families. On the 1870 census in what district did you find Frank Moore? Vicki, and my Moore's lived and died for most part, those that stayed in LCT, in the 10, 9, 6 and 5 district. That is the Norris Creek, now Belleville, and Chestnut Ridge area. I believe the Annie that is living with my great grandparents James Wright and Rebecca Renfro Wright. on the 1850 census, was Annie Moore married to Solomon Wright. No proof. But Annie had to have been the mother to James. I believe this Annie was from the John Harkins Moore line. Again no proof. I will be happy to send to you what I have found on the Moore line. I guess I thought I did but I send to people so much I lose track. I have some on Andrew Newton Moore as well as Andrew Moore son of John Harkins Moore SR. The Moore's also married into my Pylant line. Have had a great deal of difficulty with AOL in the last few days. I have not been able to receive and send emails in a timely fashion. John, son of John Harkins Moore Jr., was listed as being born about 1846. Dates, among other things, on the census records aren't always correct. I believe his brother, James, was James Frank Moore. There is a Frank Moore listed on the 1870 LCT census with about the right dates for this family. I also believe he is the J. F. Moore that married Mary E. Wanslow in LCT on the 19-Oct-1865. Hi Vicki, There is a A. N. Moore on the 1900 Macon County Illinois Census. He was born February 1848 in Tennessee and listed as married for 24 years. The only other person listed is Marin E. Moore, daughter born May 1879 in Tennessee. Is this Andrew Newton Moore and if so, where was the rest of the family? Robert L. Hi Robert That is Andrew Newton -- He was born in 1848 -- and his daughter was Marion Estella (the name is incorrect on that census. I have not heard the Macon County before, but there is much I do not know. Sadly, the last daughter of Marion Estella died on March 4 and her memorial will be held on Saturday. She remembered many of the stories of her mother going with Andrew Newton when she was a girl - she would play the organ for him in the church services. I submitted for the Lincoln Co. book a photo of Andrew Newton and Sarah and all their children -- all of whom sang and played musical instruments -- many of their instruments still in the family today. Vicki When was Andrew Newton MOORE a minister at Mt. Hebron? My James Thomas MOORE and his wife Amniah BELL MOORE joined Mt. Hebron in 1860, along with their son James John MOORE. James John MOORE became a Cumberland Presbyterian minister and attended "Camp Blake", a seminary of sorts for Cumberland ministers. Working with Robert, I am looking at Andrew MOORE who married Kindness MNU as being the father of my James Thomas MOORE. Andrew Newton and his family (wife Sarah Isabel Pylant) left Lincoln Co. and went to DeWitt Co. Illinois where he worked to establish new churches. He was pastor at the Rose Hill Presbyterian Church which was somewhere near Weldon. From Illinois he went on to the frontier of North Dakota (I think in 1910) and again worked to establish churches there. List, I just got off the phone with one of the ladys who is helping with the Lincoln County Book. She called me due to some names I had down in what I had sent in on my Bowen line. I had two Williams, so not knowing with out my papers in front of me I told her I must have wrote the same name twice. I'm wrong and I need to get in touch with the people who are going over the papers we send in. Any one out there have a phone number where I can call them. Need the number right away. Thanks Brenda

MOST INTERESTED IN FIND COUCH RELATIVE WHO MAY HAVE BEEN IN LINCOLN COUNTY, TN AS EARLY AS 1795 UNITL 1807. PARTICULARLY LOOKING FOR JOHN COUCH SR & JR AND THOMAS COUCH WHO CAME FROM GREENVILLE,SC. Thanks
I don't have verified information - I got the names of the children of John Harkins Moore, Jr. from someone a long time ago before I learned about citing the source. I show that there is a son John and a son Frank -- and the other son b. 1848 is my great-grandfather, Andrew Newton Moore. Since John Harkins Moore, Jr. and his wife Margaret Hall Armstrong were married in 1837, I am sure Andrew Newton was not the first born. I show there are three girls in the family also -- Fanny, Easter, and Annie. I cannot be sure these are the right members of this family. I also believe there were probably more children - seldom did any of this clan have only six children.
