Still searching for the ancestors of Soloman Roan and wife Fanny Parish. Married in Mecklenburg county NC, moved to Lincoln county Tn. where I think Soloman died before1850 and his wife Fanny and family moved to Hardin county Tn. where I think Fanny died before 1860 as I cannot find her after 50.
My ancestor was Hardy Ethridge , he was married twice. After he died I find his family in Franklin Co TN. I have not found where Hardy is buried. Any one related to these ethridges in the 1860 census listed in Franklin Co TN? Brenda
Cindy I noticed the name Ethridge. My great aunt was an Ethridge and married a Prince in Bedford Co. Her father was William Bud Ethridge and mother Haley Elizabeth Walker. Mary, The Ethridge name is interesting also....I have some info on the family of a Jeremiah Ethridge who was first named in Nc with some Warrens I've been researching (1775), seems the children of each came to Lincoln Co together, even married into the Warrens...Of the NC Warrens there were female children I have never been able to put a name on, that Warren-Gray marriage was an avenue...The Ethridges and some of the Warrens wind up in Al by 1830ish...Just found it interesting you mentioned some Ethridges. Cindy, I'm so new to this and the names you are looking for aren't very familiar to me, so I forwarded it to cousin Fletcher Gray in TX (trying to trace his line from Thomas Gray, who we think may be a brother to Burgess, John, etc.) I remember seeing references to Mary Gray and to Alexander Gray, and I think they were on a LCT census. I'll let you know if I find anything. Thanks for responding. Does anyone have information on Hiram White listed on the 1820 census? I am wondering if he was a brother or father ot Elizabeth White b. 1895 N.C. who married Joshua Benton King. They named a son Hiram White King who is my grgr grandfather. Hiram White also lived near the Kings. Blessings Judy
William Strong went to LCT c1830 from Chester Co., SC and some believe that William had married S. Matilda in SC and in addition to a daughter Malinda had more children. A Mrs. S. Matilda Strong, May 1800- Apr. 7, 1887, is buried in the Catholic Prebyterian Church in Chester Co., adjacent to her parents Rev. Robert and Margaret McCullugh. Malinda is buried next to her mother and her marker identifies as the dau. of William and Matilda Strong. William married Mary B. Harper somewhere and they had a large family and lived in LCT. Their first children were Martha (b c1833) and Isabella (born Dec. 1835) married George Riley Allen. Isabella and George named a dau. Mary Harper. Surely she would not use that name had her fathers wife had left him. Divorce could only be granted by the SC legislature and was the case until 1865. SC legislative papers are complete and a divorce was not granted nor was there a petition for one. Todate, I have been unable to find William in TN until Oct. of 1833 when he witnessed a transaction by Hugh Parkinson. I do believe Sarah Matilda did marry a William Strong but it was not the William who went to TN. William's first wife was Margaret McDill who died in 1827. Can anyone help me on this ? .
Norman, You'll find a detailed posting on this line by Roger Dellinger at http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/S/STRONG+1997+15104001242+F. He shows William Strong of SC and LCT to have been married 3 times. He shows William and second wife Matilda to have been divorced in 1833 in TN. Robert Strong (through John Strong of LCT, a different Strong line) http://azstrong.tripod.com/harry_alice
Ginny: The Mary Haskins (below) on the LCT census 1860, Dist 10, HH#1254 is Mary Harkins. Her father was David Harkins. I do not have a husband for this Mary Harkins but there is a marriage for a Mary Harkins to J.B. Hedricks 9 July 1867 by J.A. Prosser JP. I have info on many Harkins but I have not been able to attach this David to my other Harkins. Does anyone know who David's father was?
