Hi Regina: Thanks for your question. Again. We do appreciate your enthusiasm! Your query, originally made in late February was answered on Monday, February 28, 2005 11:49 AM. Turns out the Committee is still preparing manuscript, and hopes to have that complete by June of 2005. None-the-less, here's a repeat of our answer: Subject: Answers to [TN] LINCOLN COUNTY HERITAGE BOOK questions... Thanks for your comments, Regina! First a statement. The LCT book has exploded from a "good size" Heritage book to GIANT, bigger than life size! More than 2200 articles are now being finalized! The brochure stated that "anticipated delivery was late 2004 or early 2005". Because of the landslide of stories and pictures, the book will be nearly double the size of other Tenn. County Heritage Books. It will be well worth the wait! Yes, meticulous records have been kept. All moneys are safely tucked away in a Federally Chartered bank in Fayetteville, TN. According to Jack Towry, President of the LCT Genealogical Soc., and the Heritage Book Committee, pre-publication prices will only be honored for only a few more days. After all manuscript is submitted, the price will increase. (a word to the wise) For more details, you may click on the website; http://www.lincolncountytn.com/genealogy/heritage.html It is anticipated that some of the family articles and photos will be submitted to the publisher on Wed., March 2. From there, the typesetting and proofing process will roar into overdrive. The goal of the Committee is a Late Fall 2005 delivery of the book. Hang in there! You will be pleased. Oh yes, in May 2005, the project will enter its 18th month. In nearby Bedford Co., TN their book project lasted approx. 36 months. (All in Bedford are very proud of their book!) Our best to all friends of LCT History & Heritage! --------------------------------------------------- 4-10-05 Oh yes, Have roots in Giles Co., TN? Jump on board this exciting project! http://www.GilesCoTN.com Dawn --- Regina <rgpipes@direcway.com> wrote on April 9, 2005--- Has anyone heard when the Lincoln County Heritage Book will be in? I bought one but never got a receipt for it. Hope someone was keeping good records. Regina ----------------------------- __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Researchers of Paine/Payne surname and Sonja and Cindy who have tried to help me find marriage date for James and Martha- I found William Pain [aka Paine/Payne] living on Reedy Creek in Rowan Co NC -same place my William White family lived. Then I found John Pain living in Stokes Co NC, same place my White's ended up living when Old Rowan Co split up and the section my family lived in became Stokes Co NC. The surname was spelled Pain in Rowan Co Deeds book by James Kluttz. *** William Paine was the spouse of widow; Charity Paine age 70, born Maryland, living in 1850 Lincoln Co TN in HH 664 with her daughter; Elizabeth age 42 b NC. Charity lived next door to my James [Franklin] White age 33 b NC, HH 663, Lincoln Co TN 1850 census. Wife Martha age 32 b NC. Children; William age 13 [ all these ch born in TN] Amanda M. 9 Charityann E. 7 Dinah F. 5 Thomas 1 A few doors away lived; HH 663 George W. Paine age 40 b NC [son of Charity prob?] Elizabeth 38 b NC Susan C. 18 [all children b TN] Martha A. 14 Elizabeth 8 Mariah 2 George W. 2 Mourning age 2 months. [I wonder if George's father, William Paine, spouse of Charity above had died shortly before Mourning's birth in 1849/50?- usually that is why Mourning or Benoni is used for a child's name] I would love to hear from another of this Paine/Payne line please. Ginny Keefer nee White.
