    1. elusive Thompson of LCT
    2. JSanders
    3. I simply cannot give up on this. I have some names here, some have been posted time and time again...hopefully someone will eventually see them who can help...not that everyone who has tried hasn't helped!.. Names are Anna Thompson (could be Elizabeth) born abt 1789 in NC. Husband is not known, but they were living in TN in 1840. Children Catharine born about 1820? in NC David, born abt 1821 in TN Patrick b. abt 1824.in TN..he married Mary Pully/Pulley. Anna/Elizabeth was living with her children in 1850 in Lincoln Co. Not too far was Louisa Rorex Thompson with her children William David age 6, and Catharine, age 3..my gggrandmother. She married William Thompson in 1845 in Lincoln CO. I believe William was David's brother. William Rorax, age 45 was living there also.. he was Louisa's half brother. Young William D. later changed is name from Thompson to William D. Rorex/Rorax. Catharine, age 13, is living with David, Anna and Catharine in 1860. That's it. Thanks to anyone who may have something I can work with. This LCT group is a great one. Judy

    1. Re: [LCT] Re: [LCTGray connections
    2. Thanks for all the work, Ginny. I did know about the Brevard, Hubbard connections. James & John's mother was Sarah, maiden name unknown, and she married 3 times. I have followed leads on other Grays in TN but the one in LCT is a perfect match (except for the naming traditions and the fact that I expected to find Martha E Gray in Obion County rather than Lincoln. Family stories speak of g-grandma visiting Woodland Mills (Ob.Co.). One of Martha & James' daughters married and settled for a time in Woodland Mills, so this may have been what they were talking about. Most of the others settled in Fulton Co. KY, just across the border from Obion. Martha E, Davis died in 1880, so possibly James married again and moved somewhere in the vicinity of Obion TN/Fulton KY counties. I haven't found any family Martha may have traveled to MO with, but I might not know the names to look for. James was born in TN also with roots in NC, and there families may go back a long way. She had two younger sisters, Nancy & Ellen, and I thought one of them could have possibly gone with her, but it was 9 yrs since she left and the next census, so a younger sister might have returned back to TN or married in MO. I haven't heard of any aunts in that area though. One of James & Martha's granddaughters (whom they didn't live long enough to see) turned 100 yrs old this month! She is in NY and I would love to talk to her, although I don't know what she would remember. Martha ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia L. 1. Re: [LCT] Naming Traditions
    2. Martha, Just my two cents worth here, but I have to say that I would be leary, that I have found naming patterns pretty much in all the lines I have researched. I think before I made those in MO. mine, I would look deeper, I've had a lot of luck in following neighbors, or the families who married into mine, who also moved with mine elsewhere. Seems to have proven rare that only one family leaves an area, usually they dont go alone. Try looking for the in-laws, neighbors, siblings, something/someone who might have moved with them... Good Luck, Cindy
