    2. Velma, I have to check dates, but you are going to find most of these people in the 1820 LCT and Bedford census. Very definitely, they went through Kentucky. Some stayed in Kentucky and some crossed the river into Indiana. This was the territory south of the Ohio River. Lazarus Whitehead was their first pastor, and he also migrated to LCT with the group. Incidentally, there was a very prominent Hart family in colonial Kent County, DE. Here is another McLaughlin record from Rowan County. With Decoration Day coming up I would like to take this time to urge everyone who can to contribute to the Jackson County Cemetery Fund if you can afford it, only a dollar or two if nothing else. As much as I would like to be there to help cleanup my health says no, I figure the least I can do is contribute money. There are many other old cemeteries in Jackson County in urgent need of clean up and conservation among them the Kirby Cemetery on Backbone Ridge where Cindy Swagler tells me there has been an on going logging operation that may be damaging the cemetery. Some of Jane Gullatt Kirby's children are buried there as is her husband John Parks Kirby. Another in need of cleaning off I think is the Pauper's Cemetery on Poor House Mountain. Once these old cemeteries are gone, they are gone forever it would seem. Unfortunately with urbanization some are simply being bulldozed even though in every state it is against the law. Many, many more are being overgrown with trees and bushes and are forgotten. Clay -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yahoo! Groups Links a.. 3. Julia, The Suggs-Wright marriage is: Harbard Suggs born 1755 Anson Co., N.C. d: 1812-14 Montgomery Co. married Zelphia Wright daughter of William Wright & Elizabeth Furr. Don't know how or if this fits into your Wright family. I believe their son Wiley is the one who might have migrated to Owen Co., Ind. along with the Bolin family & some others. There was a Wiley Suggs who was mentioned with Benager Randle's estate. He probably married a Randle daughter. When I was at the State Archives in N.C. I copied what land records I could find from Montgomery Co. Among them is this one which shows some Wrights were neighbors of my Bolins. This is probably the Father of Zelphia. Oct. 23, 1789, No. 596 John Boling Junr., 50 acres beginning at Ben (?) Dewals Talors corner tree and bounded by Talors line running North crossing sd river thence West to Wm. Wrights line thence South for complement. I have tried to look into these families because they seemed to follow my Bolins in different directions - one took off for Ga., one for Owen County, Ind. & one for Lincoln Co. Tn., Marion Co., Ala. & Mo. Actually it was more than one in each direction. All seem to carry the same names in their families & they're all a mess. Another researcher I've corresponded with was also following the Brown family. Some of these family branches were just over the county line into Bedford Co. There's a mixture of families from S.C. & Montgomery Co., N.C. They may have met up in Ga. On the other hand, my Willoughby was born in S.C. but lived in Montgomery Co., N.C. He may have gone back to S.C. Bernadine Julia Molitz wrote: >Bernadine, > >You have really given us something to chew on. On Page 27 of the LCT 1820 >census we have Ephraim King from SC. 3. Julia, In my data base I have a Joseph Patrick Brown, born July 22, 1770. His wife was Mary Ann Stephens, born December 28, 1771. They were married about 1794 in Norway, SC, at the Willow Swamp Baptist Church. Their children (that I have listed) are Winnifred Ann Brown, born June 6, 1795, and Joseph Martin Brown, born 1796 Winnifred Ann Brown married January 28, 1818, Thomas C Young, Jr. and they had eleven children. They died in Neshoba Co., MS, and are buried at a Winston Co., MS cemetery. Do these names fit in with the ones you have? 3. Bernadine, You have really given us something to chew on. On Page 27 of the LCT 1820 census we have Ephraim King from SC. He along with the Harkins were supposed to have come with the Armstrong's. James & John Armstrong on this page were Thomas Armstrong sons. And Joseph Brown on page 27 might be Mary "Mollie" Brown Armstrong (wife of Thomas) brother. McClintic Brown was Mary's cousin. I cannot fine Thomas Armstrong on the 1800 SC census but there is a Thomas (the right age & children) on the Cumberland NC census. If they all came together then where did they all meet up? Anyone have any idea. Bernadine, do you know anymore about the Wright-Suggs marriage? My Wrights were from SC but also stopped along the way in NC (but where)? Solomon Wright was in LCT by 1820. 3. Teresa, I cannot help you with your Foster line but perhaps John Foster on this list can when he sees you post. The land deeds. Those on Norris Creek: Norris Creek runs north out of the city of Fayetteville, through Belleville up to almost Cane Creek in the north of the county. Cane Creek: Cane Creek for the most part runs from the west to north east at the very top of the county. See the town of Petersburg? Little Cane Creeks starts a little south of Petersburg's run east along Petersburg/Chestnut Ridge Road (route 129) over into Moore, CO. Shelton Creek is a little harder as I have not found it on my map as yet but Elk River runs right across the middle of the county but it has many up and down curves. It has been my experience when looking for land on the south fork of the Elk River the land has been in the south west side of the county. There is a Shelton Road but it is a short road and it is south west of New Hope, south of the city of Fayetteville. I will keep looking for Shelton Creek. I thought at one time I had looked for it before but cannot remember. Julia.

    3. RE: Question about who the person below is: > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~webmouse/Foster/NancyFoster2014.html I am NOT researching this family. From the Annotated 1850 census, there is a Nancy, wife of James Foster living in HH 288 of the 1850 annotated census. I have a note that her maiden name could possibly be Wagster -> Wagoneer??? This is due to the presence of William Wagster in the household. I have no evidence of this relationship.

    3. Ginny, I have a very good friend that is 95 years of age. She is a MacIntosh and descends from Chief MacIntosh. She lives in Canada as did her parents. She has in her possession an original marriage cert. between John Lewis Williams and Mary Elizabeth white and is looking for one surname or the other to give this document to. I remembered seeing your post on White. Because of her advanced age she is getting her house in order so to speak. Apparently this document was in her fathers possessions which she has. She was the youngest of 8 children and the only daughter. the other 7 were males. I was hoping you might know of some Whites that might have been in Canada so I could put them in contact with her. We never know what tomorrow will bring and the marriage cert. could be lost through her death. She will surrender to the party that can show relationship. Thanks, Shirley in OK. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia L. 3. I have to say, reading this gave me a laugh....it sounds so much like me trying to explain my families to another person. What it boils down to, is always check the neighbors on census and land records. They either are relatives, or will eventually marry into the family, or....they travel the same migration route sometimes for several generations. The connections became a real cat's cradle... One man told me his family tree was a circle and I am beginning to think that about mine. For example - I am not a Davis, but some of them married into various parts of my family. I am trying to see if Davis in LCT and Lawrence Co TN, are connected to the ones in Jackson Co TN....and I know some from LCT moved along with Turneys to Boone Co Arkansas. Then next, what if any is connection to Hawkins and Linn/Lynn families? So I have the same problem you do. But I can take some of these family names back to ca 1750s and the valley of Virginia around Woodstock / Edinburg area. That really makes me scratch my head, then on to Clinch/Holston area (just getting into TN) and on from there. I find them at King's Mountain in 1780, again in War of 1812....and so on.
