Julia, Thank you for writing and since you didn't locate this Joseph, I don't think I will need your Brown file. However, I may write Mary with the address you gave me. Thanks again. Charles, I don't know much, just bits and pieces: The Ninth District was where my COLE family lived--John Cole/Nancy Graves. I was told the name Shull was originally Scholl and that there is a Daniel Boone connection. I was also told that John Norris Epps, husband of Florence Cole who was F. M. Cole's daughter, bought Epps Hollow. I don't know who the Susan Shull age 6 was--she was living in the household of Sally Armstrong age 60--but they are living right next door to Wm. Cole age 23 (brother of F. M. Cole) in the Ninth District in 1850 LCT. Two houses away from little Susan Shull in the opposite direction is Nancy Cole, widow of John Cole and mother of F. M. Cole and Wm. Cole. No idea who Will Shull is. I used to have some information on your Daniel B. Shull before my old computer crashed. Gene Johnson 1850 Fed Census for LCT Icy Banks had Susan A. SHULL in her (my g. grandfather's house and also in Sally Armstrong's house. Susan was age 6 at that time having been born 7 Jan 1844. Her mother Julia Ann Davis died June 1844 of that year. D. B. SHULL married Mary Polly Clark, Julia's cousin also from KY. Sally Armstrong took care of Susan as Mary was pregnant and died with infant abt June 1850. Susan must have been with Sally that day the census taker came by but is also listed in house of D. B. SHULL, her father. I though F. M. Cole and Sally Armstrong might ring a bell with you. I think Sally's maiden name was KING. Charlie -- Charles & Beverly Schull 1953 Yolanda St. Springfield, OR 97477 Phone: 541-746-4097 E-mail: coschull@comcast.net

When I post family information on line that is not my own, I ALWAYS cite where I found the information including name and E Mail address to make contact for corrects or questions. I state that I have not personally verified the information posted. I am trying to get in the back door, so to speak, to learn more about my William White Sr and Jr of Prince William Co., Fauquier Co and Lancaster Co VA. That is why I am looking into near associates and neighbors of my White's. I am NOT related to a George but he and my William's were listed often together and lived next door to each other in Fauquier Co VA. It is up to the various George descendants to see if they connect. I make no judgments. I just know that some of them came from same places my White's did to get me interested in them- they even lived in Stokes Co NC same time he did before some came to LCT. My ancestor was Nancy ETHRIDGE before she married. She married into both sides of my parents family(strange but true) She first married Frank MCCLURE and had children . He died and then she married Daniel Bowen/Boren and also had children by him. Nancy had brothers and sisters George Ethridge,James Ethridge , Edmond Ethridge,John Ethridge Nancys father was Hardy ETHRIDGE, after his first wife died there in either Lincoln or Franklin Co TN, he remarried to Susan MAYES , Susan MAYES parents were BOZEMAN MAYES and URANIA HAWS, they lived in Franklin County TN. Any one related to my Ethridges ? I would very much like to find out where Hardy Ethridge and his two wives are buried. Also where Daniel Bowen and wife Nancy are buried. Thanks Brenda
Dear Ginny, There are at least 6 distinct GEORGE families with ties to LCT (and possibly 8-9 when including the surrounding counties in both TN & AL). While I suspect that one or more of these may one day prove to be related, so far only one can be traced back to Nicholas George of Lancaster Co., VA. It is important to note that there are questions regarding the specific line which you cited. The following individuals are brickwalls. Their parents/ancestry have yet to be proven, but some of their descendants do have ties to LCT: 1. David George (d. 1782) m. Bathia Collins; 2. Richard George (b. Abt. 1805) m. Janette _____ ; 3. Solomon George (b. Abt. 1764) m. Sarah Rich; 4. Thomas S. George (1791-1859) m. Mary Hurt; 5. William H. George (b. Abt. 1810) m. Nancy Perry. William George, Sr. (The Revolutionary War Soldier) was born 19 Jul 1756 in Lancaster Co., VA. He died on 1 Apr 1847 in LCT. Following the Revolutionary War, he removed to Nova Scotia to engage in the boating and fishing business. While there he met and married Africa Rogers. Her family migrated to Nova Scotia from North Carolina. Their first seven children were born in Nova Scotia: 1. David W. George (1792-1854) -- died in LCT; 2. William George, Jr. (1795-1862) -- who died in LCT; 3. Fereby George (b. 1797); 4. Joseph George (1799-1868) -- died in Giles Co., TN; 5. Mary George (1801-1859) -- died in LCT; 6. Thomas B. George (1803-1888) -- died in LCT; 7. Needham George (1805-1879) -- died in LCT; About 1808, William George, Sr. removed to North Carolina. That is where their next two children were born: 8. Mahala George (b. 1809); 9. Eli George (b. 1811) -- lived in LCT for a while. There is a dispute as to whether there was a 10th child, John George (b. Abt. 1816). While I won't go into the details, I believe him to be a grandson of William George, Sr. William George, Sr. relocated to LCT in January 1832. It is believed that his wife died back in North Carolina. Thomas B. George was in LCT as early as 1823. Here is how I currently show William George, Sr.'s Ahnentafel chart (NOTE: LVA = Lancaster Co., VA) 1. William George, Sr. (1756-1847) m. Africa Rogers. 2. William George (d. 1760 LVA). 3. Lucia Stephens. 4. William George (c. 1699 LVA-1760 LVA). 5. Rebecca Martin. 8. William George (c. 1670 VA-1709 VA). 9. Elizabeth Carter (b. 1680 LVA, the dau. of Capt.Thomas Carter & Katherine Dale. 16. Nicholas George (c.1642-c. 1700 LVA) 17. Unknown. (Previously believed to be Elizabeth Ann James. However, evidence now indicates she is more likely his 2nd wife.) 32. Nicholas George (c. 1622 England - c. 1661 LVA) 33 Margaret Horn (d. Abt. 1670). Some researchers have her as Margaret Seward. 64. Nicholas George (d. Abt. 1652 LVA). 65. Ann Phillips. ________________________ Thomas B. George (1803-1888) and his 2nd wife, Lilley Black (c. 1793-1840) are my 3rd great grandparents. Velma, would you please contact me directly. I would love to share more detailed information. Ginny, My EUSTACE family, who came to Jackson Co., Al. married into this GEORGE family. My Thomas EUSTACE 1791, Va. married Elizabeth GEORGE in 1808 in Fauquier Co., Va. They moved to Jackson Co., Al. sometime after 1819. Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph GEORGE, who was the 7th child of Nicholas GEORGE V, who, of course, was the son of Nicholas GEORGE IV ..... and so on. When I saw GEORGES in Lincoln Co., Tn., I wondered if some of this family may have come when Thomas EUSTACE came with his family. I have not tried to connect them, though, I must admit that I have not confirmed all of this GEORGE info either. I read that the first Nicholas and brother, John, came to America about 1638 from Essex Co., England. I've also read that Nicholas I was born in Wales. Velma Finley

Ginny, Would appreciate it if you will keep you eyes open for any Gobbel,Gobble or variant spelling in the Rowan Co. book. John Gobbel Family came from there. From around Yadkin River and Grants Creek. They were in Smith Co. Tn. in 1820, Bedford Co by 1830, the Flat Creek area. In 1850 they were in Lincoln Co., near the Chestnut Ridge area maybe. By 1853, they were in Wayne Co. Tn. Any information from NC or Lincoln, Bedford, Moore Co. would be a great help. Thanks. Harold ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia L. I am trying to trace families that were neighbors/friends to my White family back to Lancaster Co VA to Fauquier/Prince Wm.
