    3. It was Galloway/Raby, located on the left on North Main Avenue.  Was the original location of Gallant Funeral Home.  Is a residence now across the street from the Methodist Church.   --- On Thu, 4/8/10, jpddigest1@aol.com <jpddigest1@aol.com> wrote: From: jpddigest1@aol.com <jpddigest1@aol.com> Subject: Re: [TNLINCOL] Galloway Funeral Home To: tnlincol@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, April 8, 2010, 8:34 PM Hello List, Does anyone know where Galloway Funeral Home was located in 1936?  Was it near Fayetteville??? 3. Thanks Ginny & Julia, While I am unable to explain the 1836 marriage record (i.e., was it an error; another couple; or the same couple that waited two years to actually marry?), I believe that the couple is James Harvey Gray and Mary Emaline Russell who married 30 May 1839 in LCT. Thus making James Harvey Gray the likely son of John E. Gray & Kesiah. The Joseph Wallace family with similarly named children is nothing more than a coincidence since he and his wife Elizabeth L. Wallace (m. 27 Mar 1842 in Sumner Co., TN) are in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 Sumner Co., TN census. As for the duplication of the Thomas Gray/Grey household in the 1850 LCT census, there are actually several cases where families were enumerated twice. In this particular case, Thomas Grey's household #893 was enumerated on 29 Oct 1850. The other household for Thomas Gray, #1032, was enumerated on 8 Nov 1850. And Alfred Bearden was the enumerator for both entries. In the former Thomas Gray/Grey is living adjacent to his presumed daughter, Rebecca Gray (HH #892), who married Thomas Lodge Dennis Parkes on 8 Feb 1848 in LCT. In the latter, Thomas Gray/Grey is living nearby his presumed daughter, Malinda Elizabeth Gray (HH #1047), who married William Martin Scivally on 2 Nov 1848 in LCT. One would have to do a land deed study to determine whether Thomas Gray/Grey owned two different properties. Jim Danley

    3. Dear List, In the book "Early Middle Tennessee Marriages," by Byron & Barbara Sistler, is the following marriage record: "Gray, Harvey to Emaline Gray ?-?-1836 [Li]." This is James Harvey Gray (b. Abt. 1815; d. Bef. 1 Feb 1875) who married Mary Emaline Gray (b. Mar 1820; d. 16 Mar 1908). They are enumerated in the 1850 LCT census, 2nd Sub Division, in HH #202. Living in HH #203 is John Gray (age 60) his wife, Kesiah (age 60) and others. Would anyone know whether John Gray & Kesiah are the parents of James Harvey Gray or Mary Emaline Gray? In the 1900 LCT census, 19th Civil District, Mary Emaline Gray (listed as "Gray, Emaline M.") is living with her son-in-law, John D. Bryant, and her daughter, Elizabeth J. "Lizzie" Gray (previously married to William B. Nicks). Also in that household is Harvey Cowan Gray (b. Feb 1884; d. 1938)--son of John Edward Gray & Myrtle Lewis, both deceased (although Myrtle Lewis remarried to Charles Dickson Spray--17 Jul 1898 in LCT--before her death on 5 Apr 1899); and grandson of Mary Emaline Gray--eventhough he is listed as being a "servant." This census record has that Elizabeth J. "Lizzie" Gray had two children and one living. It also has that Mary Emaline Gray had seven children and one living. Elizabeth J. "Lizzie" Gray actually had THREE children: Ansleum Thomas Nicks (b. 29 Sep 1874; d. 14 Sep 1875); Emma Nicks (b. Abt. 1877) and William B. Nicks (b. Abt. 1878). I am trying to identify all seven of Mary Emaline Gray's children. I have only four so far: John Edward Gray (b. Abt. 1843; d. bef 17 Jul 1898); Alexander R. Gray (b. Abt. 1847; d. Bef 4 Jan 1875); Elizabeth J. "Lizzie" Gray (b. Jun 1859; d. 21 Nov 1902); and Clemond A. Gray (b. Abt. 1861; d. Bef 1900). Would anyone know who the other three children are? Thanks! 1. [TNLINCOL] Help with my brick wall
    2. Harold Gobbell
    3. I've recently seen some activity on this board related to Richardson's in Lincoln Co. Here's where I need some help from people with access to records in Lincoln and Bedford Co. In 1830 and 1840 my gggrandfather, James Riley Gobbell/Gobble b. July 17,1826 was in Bedford Co. Tn. In 1850 he was in the Lincoln Co. census in the household with his father and mother John and Ruhamy Gobbell/Gobble. By 1853 they all had migrated to Wayne Co. Tn. James Riley Gobbell/Gobble then had a son named John R. Gobbell/Gobble who was born April 02, 1853. I'm told by and old relative that the middle initial "R" was for Richardson. In the 1860 Wayne Co. census no wife is in the household of James Riley Gobbell/Gobble and his son John R. I've been searching for the wife of James Riley Gobbell/Gobble for years. He must have married in Lincoln, Bedford or Wayne co. after 1850 and before April 02, 1853. His wife more than likely died on or after April 02, 1853 or she chose not to move to Wayne Co. Since "Richardson" is generally a surname, I'm thinking that might have been his mother's maiden name. I'm grasping for straws; any help will be a Godsend for me.

I spent 2 hours on phone with Wayne Owens last night, 7:30 p.m. my time and he os two hours earlier. I think he should receive a title of Tomb stone Archeologist, don't you? He has literally DUG-UP a wealth of hidden stones for both of us. The find of my g. grandmother Jane L. Himebaugh is wonderful. He and a neighbor have to complete digging it out as an apple tree has it embraced in a root. We both got carried away with Google Earth and he told me where to travel and see where and what. I have never ben to Tennessee and not likely I will at my age so to travel vicariously will well surface. Going up Wiley Hollow Rd. to Wiley Cole Cemetery and like flying over the hill to the old Shull farm is delightful and maybe better than being there in some ways. We got into a discussion on Shull Cemetery south of Cold Spring Rd. junction on 231. Why there is because of Susan Shull Stone, wife of J. D. Stone that got that land from Littleberry Stone, his father. Of course D. B. Shull, her father was granted to burry his wife Sarah L. Higgins Shull there and likely he in 1902 and daughter Sarah Francis in 1910. The question is when was the cemetery established. D. B. Shull first two wives were Julia Ann Davis d. 1844 and Mary Polly Clark d. 1850. In the old Shull letters to Missouri, Daniel stated condition of his dear friend and 2nd wife Mary that she became ill with an intestine sickness and was 6 months pregnant. The baby arrived early and lived a few minuets and Mary expired 10 days later (July 1850). He had the baby dug up and buried with it's mother, next to Julia the first wife. That takes it back to 1844 so when did he know Littleberry and was it littleberry that gave him a plot for Shull Cemetery? The land mentioned in the old land deeds is up next to Belleville or Norris Creek then. Wayne says he had land across the road (321) old Shellbyville Hwy. so where was he living 1844 when he buried Julia and I just assumed she was buried in his farm but who knows. Well maybe Wayne will figure it out some day if he doesn't tire looking. Enjoy the days of Easter and celebrate Christ arising from another grave. 3. The Goosby Cemetery is located just off Louse Creek Road. On Highway 50 going toward Lynchburg, turn right on Louse Creek Road, then turn right about 3/4 miles and I am not sure of the road (believe Gattistown). The cemetery is on top of a hill on the right. Gattis Cemetery is on the left just across from Goosby. I believe the land belongs to a Timberman. 3. Dear List, A news article from 1880 Fayetteville Observer has a L. T. SHULL I do not in my family line of D. B. SHULL of Belleville. The article reads; L. T. SHULL A Native of Fayetteville has returned from Kentucky after a long absence, and opened a new gallery on the east side of the Square, where he will take pictures of all kinds, large and small, in the very best style, with any kind of scenery. His styles are new and far superior to any ever made here. An experience of 25 years justifies him in claiming and guaranteeing satisfaction. Charges moderate. Nov 11, 1880 Another article from same paper recorded; " Mr. L. T. Shull of Richmond, KY, a native of Fayettevill was in town. Time has dealt gently with him. May 13, 1880 The descendants of a distant relative, named SHULL, A. B. Shull who died abt. 1847 but his widow and children show in 1850 LCT Census. a son Lafayette age 17 is in that family. He would be age 30 by 1880 and L. T. claims to have 25 years experience in photography by then. Does any on list have any thing to offer and if so I'd be grateful for your reply to me personally. 3. The research on my husband's RICHARDSON line has led us to Lincoln County Tennessee. His ancestor William Richardson, Jr. served in the Revolutionary War for North Carolina, and received 640 acres in 1794 (7?) in Tennessee. Without the census records, I'm trying to determine whether William(and his three sons, Ezekiel, Ancil and Montillion) actually moved to Tennessee. I do know that Ezekiel married in 1811 in Pulaski, since that is referenced on the Widow Pension of the War of 1812. Could anyone do look-ups for land deeds, or tithables for 1800 to 1820? I don't have easy access to those records from here. Thanks, Emily Richardson

    3. Emily, Those records are available on microfilm through your local Family History Center. Lincoln County was established 14 November 1809 from part of Bedford County. Bedford County was established 3 December 1807 from part of Rutherford County. Bedford County was established 3 December 1807 from part of Rutherford County. Davidson County was established 6 October 1783 from most of the territory west of the Cumberland Mountain. All of these counties will have to be searched for the information you are seeking. 3. Larry, I installed Ginny's FTM 2010. After it installed, I opened the program and it found Gin's .FTW data files on hard drive. I told it to open and convert and it did it automatically. I do recall that it had a problem with one of the data files, but I inserted the memory stick with her back-up copy and it converted that fine. Make sure you have back up copies of data files on removable media, and you should be okay. Bob K.

    3. I'd like to thank those that responded to my question.....John, Jenny, Cathy, D Carter, and cuz Peggy, and apologize for taking so long to reply. I have a 90 year old sister in an Assisted Living Facility and she has not been doing very well, ie, in an out of the hospital, etc. I am her power of attorney and I have really been busy but I do really appreciate the responses. Larry D Vaya con Dios http://home.comcast.net/~singingman7/index.html http://home.hiwaay.net/~singer/FR.htm Recently had some severe pc problems and had to get a new one. The guy that built it for me thought he was "cloning" everything I needed but alas he didn't transfer my FTM setup file.......I have the individual files with all my programs but not the executable program. (I cannot find my disc) My question is this: Today I was in the Target store and discovered FTM 2010. Does anyone know if this program will open the files generated under an older version of FTM? TIA.
