By now, everyone is aware that the wonderful workers on Lincoln Co TN site have already or are in the process of posting these installments there for everyone to view. Some installments were very large and some computers not able to handle such large E Mails. Hope everyone now has access to them and finds their earliest ancestor. Remember spelling can be close but not actual. So many could barely read or write then. They did their best. I see Bohannan and suspect it may be Buchanan? The Introduction to the booklet I typed from states; When NC gave up her claim to TN, the Secretary of State of the U.S. requested a list of lands that had been granted in that territory so the rights of ownership could be protected. Microfilm # 68 Roll # 1, is a microfilm copy of this report as it was reported to the Pres Thomas Jefferson. The original from NC had not been found. There is also a note that 2,275 more warrants had been issued to officers and soldiers of the Continental Line for which grants had not yet been made. A soldier received 640 acres; non-commissioned officers received 1000 acres; Captains received 3, 840 acres; Majors received 4,800 acres; Lt. Col received 5,760 acres. Lt Col Commandant 7,200 acres; Col. 7,200 acres; Brig. I called Southern Historical Press last week and they said they didn't get enough interest to reprint the Marsh cemetery book. However, they do maintain a list of interested people and once they reach a certain number they will reprint it. You can also call them at 1-800-233-0152 and ask to be put on this list.
