    3. Sorry to have not stepped in earlier. I normally subscribe in digest mode which works fine except when a crisis occurs. And, I only check my mail once a day. What I said was that the post was inappropriate (which turns out that it was sent in error). I should have also stated that no further discussion of the post would be allowed. I realize that is dictatorial, but we can all see what happens when the the topic is allowed to continue. I would also say that in this case the further discussion was rather mild in comparison to what I've seen on other lists. Guess we have a lot of "good lambs" in the peaceful pastures of LCT-L :-)) Thanks all for your forbearance. George

    3. In my data base I find the name McAfee. There was a Will Taylor McAfee, born 1849, TN, married Elizabeth A Sawyers, 1876, I believe in Hill Co., TX. Elizabeth was the daughter of Sarah E Wakefield and Gaylon M Sawyers. She was born in Ellis Co., TX in 1857. The Sawyers family moved on into Hill Co. after the birth of Elizabeth and their other children were born in Hill Co. Sarah was born LCT and she married Gaylon in 1855 LCT. I hope this will help. 3. Hi Ginny: I want to just clearify, the info you listed for the 4th child(of your Rev.War soldier William White and 2nd wife, Elizabeth ___)/being William Clark White: "was first child born in LCT in Aug. 1820". The "statement" caught my attention, as my hubby's ELUSIVE, brick wall, Richard L. McGehee was born in LCT in 1815, but I have not proven, other than via the Census and even one of those has incorrect age! I believe you mean the above William is the Couple's first child born in LCT, tho he was their 4th child? Am I thinking correctly about this? Fondly, Bobbie in TX Virginia L. 3. I received a note that I was not clear about my William Clark White. On my E Mail I listed [4.] before his name indicating he was the fourth child, then I went further listing he was the first child born in Lincoln Co TN. I am sorry if I confused anyone else too. William Clark White was the last child born to William White Jr and his 2nd wife,Elizabeth ____. After stating he was their last child, I noted he was also the first child of theirs that was born in Lincoln Co TN. The other three children were all born in NC. Carr Bailey White's obit in Giles Co TN states he was born in Stokes Co NC. Stokes was a portion cut away for ole Rowan Co NC that covered most of the western section of old NC before other counties were also cut out of Rowan Co. Edith Chapman White married James Tucker in Stokes Co NC. She also moved to Lincoln Co TN about the same time . Her children and William White's children lived near by. Ginny Keefer Hope I am clearer in what I am trying to share this time.

    3. Looking for information about William White who stated in his Rev War pension application that he was born Jan 10, 1755 at Fauquier Co VA [of course -place was still called Prince William Co VA until 1759]. RW S1735 VA. He must have had a wife and children in Fauquier Co VA but too many White's to separate them enough to help my research. I found his father's will; William White Sr died 1797 Haymarket, Prince William Co VA, [married 1st Mary ____, mother of all his children]. Wife at his death was widow of James Bailey, Anne Bailey. William White Jr. lived at Rowan/Stokes Co NC. In William White Jr.'s Rev War pension application filed in 1832 from Lincoln Co TN where he died in May 1833, he said "after the Rev War, I relocated to Rowan Co NC and lived there for abt 30 years". I found him on Reedy Creek in upper center of old Rowan Co purchasing land from Isaac White of Wilkes Co NC in 1800- no relationship mentioned. His children were born in Stokes Co [section that used to be Rowan Co NC]. He married 2nd Elizabeth ____ b 1775 NC. He was aged 58 when their first child together was born, [1.] Martha b 1814. William's son, James Franklin White, was a neighbor to a married daughter of Edith Chapman White and husband, James Tucker who were married at Stokes Co NC in 1814. 3. It is my understanding we have two Cole Families in the Lincoln-Giles County area during that time. My ancestor Henry C Cole wa born abt 1790 in AL. Living in NC 1830. Lincoln Co by 1840. some of his line here http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~webmouse/cole/Decendants.html It has been suggested by other Cole researchers that a James Cole, that I really don't know anything about is the ancestors of the other Cole Family. I had another Cole researcher state he found some land transactions between a James Cole and my Henry C Cole in NC, leading to believe the two may be brothers or somehow related. I do not have all the particulars on this. There are some old messges (3-4 years ago) on Cole Family on genforum relating to this. I will have to go and look back at it closer again myself. For what it's worth, a William Cole 1828-1894 married to Mary Jane Howard 1832-1915 were parents of Fannie S Cole. This family I believe is some how related to your line. Fannie S Cole was 2nd wife of my gg-grandfather Josiah Cole. 2. I'm sorry to disagree, but there is definitely a problem when an off-topic discussion is dividing us and keeping us from the purpose of this list, which is genealogy in Lincoln County, TN.
