In a message dated 6/1/2005 9:51:28 AM Central Standard Time, jldanley@sbcglobal.net writes: Dear Bill, Yes there is. The "Early Middle Tennessee Marriages," by Byron & Barbara Sistler has the following: "Gulley, Thomas to Elizabeth Massey 6-14-1837 [Ms]" (Marshall Co.) I haven't connected Thomas Gulley/Gully to the other GULLEY/GULLY families, but I believe they are related. Jim Danley Vista, CA Yes, and it would also be interesting to know who that Elizabeth Massey is. It's amazing how many "unrelated" Masseys were walking around in Giles County at that time, for a name like Massey which is really comparatively unknown. Thanks, Bill Most sincerely, William R. (Bill) Massey of Lewisburg/Marshall County, Tennessee
Just for the record, I think I've read where a Gully married a Massey, either in southern Giles or Marshall County, although I'm not sure the Massey was necessarily mine. Most sincerely, William R. (Bill) Massey of Lewisburg/Marshall County, Tennessee
Just a reminder, don't forget to check Diane Casey's annotated 1850 census for LCT. This is a continuation of Mrs. Lewter's work and is very helpful in sorting out various families. http://www.azcaseys.com/lookups/lct1850/ Sonja Bedwell smbedwell@aol.com

Jim. No I don't know how William and Washington are related. I believe they are but have never found out how. Steve

I am hoping someone on this list can help me find the birth parents of my friend. Here is the information we have: Gender: Male DOB: Sept. 3, 1952 Place: Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee Birthname: Unknown, but surname may have been Johnson-Pruitt as sister's name was Faye Nell Johnson-Pruitt. Who's Searching: Adoptee Searching For: Birth parents and siblings. BM's name: Unknown, but possibly Johnson-Pruitt BF's name: Unknown, but possibly Johnson-Pruitt Additional Information: My sister was about 2 years older and she was blind. Her birth date was June 10, probably 1950. We were adopted by the Lewis family when I was two years old. My sister has since died. My adoptive birth certificate shows I was born in Alabama, but my adoptive mother has told me I was really born in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Would like to know more about the surname "Johnson - Pruitt". Thanks for any help any of you may be able to give. Debbie
Dear Steve, Many thanks! That helps a great deal. I don't suppose you would have any idea how (if) William Gully and Washington Gully might be related? Jim
Can someone please tell me geographically what portions of the current Moore county were formally Lincoln county. Thanks for the help.durward209@bellsouth.net

Jim The only one I can help with is the James Gulley (Gurley) that married Harriet Hamby is the son of William Gulley and Sarah Annons. This is according to James Gurley's death certificate and he is also found on the following census. James and Harriet were my great grandparents. 1860 census, page 89: William Gulley was living in the ninth district of Lincoln County, Tennessee. The nearest Post Office was at Norris Creek. i live in fayetteville and will check tomorrow for you
I have been trying to find Mary Jane Alexander, Charles, Bonner, George W., Jr., Moses, Jennie Alexander in the 1880 census of Lincoln County. They probably lived in Mulberry. I have tried that census on Ancestry. com and familysearch. com and have been unable to locate them. Is there a printed index of the 1880 Lincoln County census? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Mildred Greenstreet

Would someone who is on this list and lives in Fayetteville, or Lincoln County please check to see if the Lincoln County Historical Library and Archives will be open on Sunday, June 5. I am currently in Nashville for the NGS Conference, if the Library and Archives will be open this coming Sunday, I will make the effort to visit Fayetteville before heading west to home in Nevada. If the Library and Archives are not going to be open, I will just head home. I sent e-mail to the Library, but do not know if the message will be read in time for me to make a reservation for Sunday night. Thanks for helping, Marleen Van Horne
Dear List, In "The Lincoln Lineage," Vol. 8, No. 1, pgs, 20 & 21 are the transcriptions of the following two households from the 10th Civil District in the 1870 LCT Census: "203-198 Martin WRIGHT 50 M W Farmer Tenn. Frankie 48 F W Keeping house N.C. Evaline 30 F W At home Tenn. John 23 M W Farm hand " Eleander 22 F W At home " Holliman 18 M W Farm hand " Robert 16 M W " " " Meecie 6 F W " Sallie CLARK 70 F W Living with family " Martin WRIGHT married 24 July 1838, Lincoln County, Tenn., Frances MASSEY." "206-201 James GULLY 27 M W Farm hand Tenn. Harriet [HAMBY] 22 F W Keeping house " James GULLEY married 16 Dec 1869, Lincoln County, Tenn. Harriet M. HAMBY." Will Johnson's website: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=wjhonson&id=I49810 , contains the following note: "1850 Marshall Co, Tennessee District No 4, Sheet 144B, page 287, 19 Nov 1850 #656/656 Martin Wright, 25, M, W, Farmer, b TN , Frances, 30, FW, b TN, cannot read or write , Evaline, 9, FW, b TN , James, 7, MW, b TN , John, 4, MW, b TN , Sarah E, FW, b TN Sally Gully, 50, FW, b TN" Then in the "1860 Census-Tennessee," by Byron & Barbara Sistler is the following household: "GULLY, Washington 30, Sarah 30, Mary 15, John 12, George 8, Frances 55, James 16, William 20, Elizabeth 22, Johnson 1, Li-74-160." Finally, there is a marriage record for James Clark to Sarah Gully on 28 Sep 1858 in Lincoln Co., TN. 1. It would appear that there is some kind of connection between Martin WRIGHT or Frances MASSEY to Sarah who appears to have married (1) a GULLY and (2) a James CLARK. Would anyone know what this connection might be; and possibly know the identity of the GULLY she married? And who this James CLARK might be? 2. It would appear that the Frances GULLY (55) in Washington GULLY's household, in 1860, is the mother of James GULLY (16) and William GULLY (20). That the Elizabeth (22) in this household is William GULLY's wife and Johnson GULLY (1) is their son. Can anyone confirm this? 3. My hunch is that this Frances GULLY may be the sister-in-law of Washington GULLY. Would anyone know who her husband was and whether he was the brother of Washington GULLY? 3. My hunch is that the James GULLY, who married Harriet M. HAMBY, is the son of Frances GULLY, that is in Washington GULLY's household in 1860. Can anyone confirm this? Any help in sorting out these households would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jim Danley Vista, CA
Last I heard it was going to print in Oct. or Nov. time period. They are working very hard on getting it put together. I was told they have to few volunteers and many more stories than they had expected. -----Original Message----- From: AreAllOne@aol.com [mailto:AreAllOne@aol.com] Sent: Sunday, May 29, 2005 6:04 PM To: TNLINCOL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [LCT] Heritage book Has anyone heard any news on whether the heritage book is getting close?
