Jim, Thanks! The infant Carl probably will prove to be the grandson. I've requested obits of Carl Crane who died in 1992 and Kelly Jones has agreed to look it up. If she has the time while she's at the library I'll ask her to look-up obits for Spart, Ellis and the baby Carl Wayne Crane. ---Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of James L. Ruth, I have researched the Crane's of LCT but there are some that I have missed, those of later years. After looking at the 1910 LCT census this is what I believe about your Spart Asbury CRANE I believe Spart is the son of John R. CRANE and Susan ?. I only have info on this couple from the 1910 census but I do have much info from John on back 1910 LCT census dist 14 hh147-147 JOHN R. CRANE 46; marriage 1; married 25 years born in TN as where his parents, all of his children and wife as well; farmer SUSAN (wife) 43; marriage 1; married 25 years TIMOTHY (son) 19 marriage 1; 0 years SPART (son) 16 single MAGGIE (dau) 12 single DILLIE (dau) 7 ALEXANDER (son) 1 TRUDELLS (dau in law wife of above Timothy as noted by census taker) 17; marriage 1; 0 years JOHN R CRANE was the son of TIMOTHY WATSON RILEY CRANE 17 Aug 1848 LCT-25 Apr 1901 Moore CO., TN; Raby Cemetery & ELIZABETH BELL BEDWELL 27Feb 1840-13 Feb 1880 Moore CO., TN Raby Cemetery 1870 LCT census dist 5 hh 108-111 P/O Lynchburg T. THOMPSON (female) 17 TN Mary BEDWELL may be Elizabeth's mother, perhaps someone else can confirm this or not. I have been trying to prove one way or the other that the Crane's and Cone's of LCT are one in the same family. So far I have not been able to prove. Elizabeth WRIGHT b abt. 1819, TN married Wm B. CONE b abt 1816 NC on 11 Feb 1840 LCT. We WRIGHT researchers believe that WM. CONE was WM CRANE. I cannot help you on CARL CRANE but would be glad to share all other info that I have so far on the CRANE family. ALICE KING is also a puzzle to me. Looking at the 1920 census she is born in AL but on the 1930 it says TN. I have nothing on her. >Has anyone seen or heard of Barnie Stewart from LCT or otherwise from TN in >the War of 1812? > >Dick Stewart > Dick, This is not Lincoln County, TN but it's some information from the north Alabama area adjacent to the Tennessee border, i.e. Madison and other such counties. It might give you a start toward finding 1812 information from other areas. .... Would be grateful if you would pass along any other such links for the Alabama-Tennessee border that you might find. Good luck. http://www.rootsweb.com/~almadiso/1812sol.htm Incidentally, in my own brief reading about the War of 1812, I get the impression that initially the fighting was up along the border with Canada ... then spread to other areas later .... i.e. the upper east coast of the US ... the Gulf coast in and around Mobile and New Orleans, etc. I can provide a few additional URL links on that topic if it's of interest to you. Which spelling to use regarding old documents like Wills and today's spelling: I quoted what the WILL called them with the deceased's own signature signed the same way at the end of the Will. At that time, spelling was terrible. My own family Keefer/Kuffer/Keiffer/Kifer/etc. I suppose it depended on any accent they might have had. We can only go with the original documents. Not using what they were changed to along the way. .·:*¨¨*:·.~* Ginny *~.·:*¨¨*:·.

In the Lincoln County, Tennessee Official Marriage Records 1838-1880 it lists on page 33, John L Cochran to Mary T Wiley. I believe that just spelled it Cochran instead of Caughran. Would so appreciate someone giving me the Webster family entries for 1850 Lincoln co. Tn I am especially interested in finding one Andrew, Andy, A. J. Webster about 25 years old. and wife who on 1860 census was: Catherine Elizabeth or E. C. (probably Rogers (Rodgers) born 1825 and didn`t die until 94 years old in Giles co. Tn. age 94 yo. Doing this for a friend. Have wondered if these families came out of Hawkins co. Tn. Catherine Elizabeth Rogers mother was Mary Majors (as per death cert. file # 268 and registered # 23) who I assume married a Rogers. I think the marriage record for Andrew Webster and Catherine Elizabeth is listed as "Rogers" in Lincoln Co. Tn. anyway, whatever on the Webster census for 1850 is appreciated. I have access to the other census records through Heritage Quest. Sue in Al.
