John, I'm sorry, I don't know the cemetery. William's wife was born to John and Delilah Chitwood Pigg. They, or he could have been buried near them (father and daughter). I'm not much help, sorry. Dortha
Thank you all for your response for help. I am specifically looking for Isaac & Margaret Rogers or Rodgers. Margaret died in 1820 and Isaac died in 1832 I believe. They owned land in Lincoln County. I also found them in Madison County Alabama I believe they must have lived on the state line. Thank you again Debbie
John, Could you please check for William (H?) McKinney, born 1815, SC? I know he was on the 1850 and 1860 census for LCT. The only death date the family has for him, is he died in the summer of 1867. Also, a daughter, Nancy Caroline McKinney, born 1845, LCT. I have no further information on her. The family records are pretty complete concerning the children of William and Elizabeth McKinney, but this is all that's written about Nancy Caroline. I will appreciate your help. One thing I might add, in 1850 the family was in Petersburg, LCT, and 1860, they were in Booneshill, LCT. Sincerely, Dortha Greenlee
Could you tell me some of the first names you found with the Bowen/boren/borin surname?? Brenda

Dear List, Okay this has got to be a record! I am subscribed to the digested version of the list. So I usually receive one and occasionally two messages a day. Just an hour ago, I received Vol. 1, Issue 17. I decided to reply. After creating my email, I pressed "Send." I am not joking!! In just 10 seconds, Vol. 1, Issue 18 arrived with my response included.
Dear Sherry, Sonja and Ruth, Timothy R. W. Crane is the brother of Spartan G. Crane (1820 - Bef. 1850) who married Jane Steelman (b. Abt. 1822). Their son, Timothy Watson Crane (b. 17 Aug 1848; d. 25 Apr 1901), married (1st) Elizabeth Belle Bedwell (b. 27 Feb 1840; d. 13 Jan 1880) on 15 Jan 1863 in LCT. I received a copy of a letter that was sent to the Genealogical Society of LCT. I wrote this article for the Chestnut Ridge Cousins Newsletter taken from the letter sent to me. THE MYSTERY OF WILLIAM LYELL Curtis CRANE was born June 1, 1897. His friends call him "DIXIE"; he grew up in Tennessee, and later changed his name to William LYELL, never telling anyone why, other than sometimes stating he did so after committing a crime. He was born to Sally ASHBY and his father's last name was CRANE, a farmer. William received an appointment to West Point but never attended. While in his twenties, he had a song and dance act with a man named Frank PIGG and they went by the name of "PIGG and CRANE". Sally ASHBY and James CRANE were married December 11, 1888 in Lincoln CO., TN. They lived in the 5th district. James died about 1909 leaving a daughter Irene 9 and a son Dixie. Sally ASHBY CRANE, their mother, was appointed guardian. It is believed that both Irene and Dixie attended the MORGAN SCHOOL as many of the CRANE children in that time period did. Was William "Curtis" LYELL the son "Dixie" of James CRANE and Sally ASHBY CRANE? Who were the parents of James CRANE? Why did Wm. LYELL change his name? If you think you may have the slightest of information or any suggestions please contact me and I will send the info to the grandson of Wm LYELL. Julia [email protected]
Thank you Sonja. You have been so helpful with CRANE information. I have only gone so far on some of the CRANE'S. I have copies of all of the CRANE marriage cert. that the Archive, in Fayetteville, had. There was none for Joel Isom WELLS & Annie CRANE. I also have copies of a lot of CRANE court records, if you would like for me to scan and send to you pdf. If you would like I can send you a list of what I have. Julia, Mary K. (White) Bedwell was Elizabeth Bedwell Crane's mother. Mother & daughter died one day apart. February 5, 1880, Fayetteville Observer, p.3 Col. 4: DIED - In this county, on the head waters of Mulberry Creek, the 12th inst., at the residence of T.W. CRAIN, of old age, Mrs. P.K. BEDWELL, aged 80 years. Also at the same place on the 13th inst. of pneumonia, her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of T.W. CRAIN, aged 38 years. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss. Tim's second wife was Martha Ellen Warren. Their daughter Nannie Crane married Joel Isom Wells, son of Isom Wells and Margaret Ward Jolley. I am still searching for a marriage record for Joel Isom Wells & Nannie Crane. Nannie Crane Wells' death certificate identifies her parents as Timothy Crane and Ellen Warren.
