Hi! I am seeking information on an old cemetery located in the town of Lawrenceburg on Waterloo Street. I believe that my gg grandfather Lemuel B. Askew is buried there. Does anyone know if this cemetery has ever been surveyed? Are there any records in book form available? Lemuel was born 1803 and died after 1850. As a young man, Lemuel came to Lawrenceburg, TN where he owned some of the town lots. He operated a cabinet shop and was the town jailer. Lemuel was first known as Lemuel B. Denton. In 1837, he petitioned a judge in Lawrence county to change his name to Lemuel B. Askew. Ruling that Lemuel had showed good and sufficient reason, the judge granted his request.
