Does anyone have any information other than what is available in the Official Records of the Rebellion (OR), Dyer's "Compendium" and "Buggar Saga" about the Battle of Butler's Creek which took place in late October/ early November of 1864? The battle was supposed to be a running cavalry battle (skirmish???) between Gen. Hatch of the Union and Gen. N. B. Forrest of the Condeferacy. I'm trying to locate the general vicinity of the battle and determine whether it was in Lauderdale Co., AL, Wayne Co., TN or possibly even in Lawrence Co. TN. I have a suspicion that it actually took place in the upper reaches of Lauderdale Co., AL and carried over into thatarea of Wayne Co. between TN 277 and the state line. Any good Civil War buffs out there who'd care to comment? (and please respond back to the lists). Edgar
