Hi everyone, I am making this post to clear up a misunderstanding by a lot of people about the archives hours this summer. The Archives "WILL BE CLOSED" JUNE 5-7 (Tues.-Thurs. of this week) in order to bring more records from the courthouse. We "WILL NOT BE CLOSED" all summer as some people have emailed to confirm. The rest of the year we "WILL BE CLOSED POSSIBLY A DAY OR SO A WEEK," but maybe not that much. I just wanted to get the word out to contact us before coming if possible, incase that one day a week is the day you want to research at the archives. We "WILL BE OPEN" all week the week before and after the family history fair since so many people want to take advantage of researching while they are here for the fair. I will eventually finish the research for any person who has requested we perform research for them, but it will take longer than usual. With just two staff members and so many things to do, we just can not keep up with the demand. The Lawrence County Family History Fair is Sat., June 23. We have had very good attendance in the past three years from researchers all across the U.S. But, if we do not have good response this year, I will probably not attempt to organize another one for 1 to 3 more years.
