    3. Hi Gang, I have had very good response to the call for a research list compilation and am about ready to post the list. However, I am resending my query about our research list as: a) a gentle reminder to those who may not have responded and wish to do so and b) for the benefit of new list subscribers who may want to participate. - - - - - - - - - - - - Several months ago (July/August) I published a list of researchers on this list in response to input received from you. Although there has been very little exchange of information on the list there has been some turnover in subscribers. For that reason, I will again publish a compilation if you will provide me with the info necessary. As last time, I will publish the list in the following format: Name of Researcher; e-mail address; Name(s) of families being researched If you wish to be included, please respond listing the above information. I will wait several weeks to allow sufficient time for responses to be received then I will publish the information to the list. I would expect that I could publish the new information by at least the middle of February. I hope to hear from you soon. Good hunting. -- Jim Crowder (jcrowder@usit.net) List Administrator TNLAWREN Mailing List

    3. Thanks for the inquiry Jim. You're doing a terrific favor for us. Here's my information: Mark Yost; yost@peoplepc.com; Looking for information on family of James M. Howard b. ca. 1851. James M. Howard b. abt 1851 in Alabama, wife Martha b. abt 1859 in Alabama, and children Mary b. 1876 in Alabama and Mahala b. 1879 in Tennessee appear on the Lawrence Co. 1880 census in District 5. James was a farmer. They also had a son, Wiley, born in Tennessee in 1881. Wiley's death certificate from 1950 lists his birthplace as Lorelta (Loretto, I think). Family tells me that Wiley was born near a place called Old Bend River. James also appears in the Lawrence County tax books for 1881 and 1882 in District 5. In 1881 his property was bordered by Mr. Spears on the north, Mr. Mobley on the south, Mr. Edwiston (?) on the east and Mr. Pleniman (?) on the west. In 1882, Mr. Franke bordered his property on the south instead of Mr. Mobley. They do not appear in the tax books for 1885 or 1886, and I don't have easy access to tax books for 1883-1885, so I don't know when they left the county. I know they returned to Alabama because James remarries in 1888 in Blount County, Alabama and appears in the 1900 census in Blount County, Alabama. Based on all that I have, then, I think that the family arrived in Tennessee from Alabama about 1877-9 and returned to Alabama about 1883-4. Can anyone suggest any other records to consult to confirm what I have already found? -----Original Message----- From: Jim Crowder [mailto:jcrowder@usit.net] Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 9:41 AM To: TNLAWREN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNLAWREN] Research List Hi Gang, I have had very good response to the call for a research list compilation and am about ready to post the list.
