The Wayne County Historical Society, Wayne County, Tennessee, is entering into a project of collecting as many Bible records as we can to be published and available for purchase. Any family who has lived in Wayne County, Tennessee, or who presently lives in Wayne County, Tennessee is encouraged to share their Family Bible Records with the Historical Society. This can be done by taking the Bible to any office of the Peoples Bank, Wayne County Bank, or Bank of Waynesboro to have copies made at no charge. You may also take them to the Office of the County Historian in the Courthouse or most churches to have copies made of the Brith, Death, Marriage and Publisher's pages of the Bible. We especially need the "Publisher's Page" or the "Title Page", showing the name of the publisher and/or the date of publication. If the Title or Publisher's page is missing, a copy of the New Testament page will usually work. Copies may be mailed to the Wayne County Historical Society, P.O. Box 866, Waynesboro, TN 38485-0866, may be brought to the office of the County Historian in the Courthouse, or emailed to Mrs. Betty Anderson at <andcoy@netease.net>; Bob Rains at <rainsb@netease.net>. If emailed, please review the format for transcription by checking those records which are on-line at http://www.netease.net/wayne/originalbible.htm, or you may submit a scanned copy of the record. As you know old Bible may get lost as the years go on -- or even burned -- with no copies available for our children and grandchildren. Many times these Bible records are the only verification of family records. You participation will help us preserve the history of Wayne County (Tennessee) families for years to come. By submitting your Bible Records, you are giving permission for those records to be publsihed in the Wayne County Bible Records Book.
Kelly/Kelley Family of Wayne & Lawrence County,TN. -REUNION I would be intersted in helping to organize a Kelly/Kelley Family Reunion for the summer of 2001 - preferably to be held in Wayne or Lawrence County near the Kelly property. Our line is through William Kelley born 1758 down through his son Richard Kelley (born 1805) who married Martha Eaves. I would like to see all Kelley/Kelly families who lived in Wayne County or surrounding areas be able to participate in this reunion. We have one year to locate and gather the cousins. Is there anyone who is willing to help with this reunion? or is there someone who is already chairing a reunion similar to this one? Most of our family lived in or near Iron City. Let me hear from you if you are interested. The Gathering Goes On!! Donna Cuillard 6273 Anastasia AVe. I have a surprise for all you Tucker researchers who have been researching the family of Burch also. An error made in the transcription of a marriage many years ago when the first marriage book was done lists Enoch Tucker as marrying Margaret Burch in 1849. The original marriage certificate has been lost or stolen many years ago, but while checking the actual microfilm in helping a researcher try to prove if this was really Burch, the following was found. Enoch Tucker married Margaret Rinck Sept. 13, 1849. The r is very plain in both the index and the actual record, especially the index. So all researchers who thought you were related to Margaret Burch, are now no longer descended from her! Kathy Niedergeses, Director Lawrence County Archives

The following listing is the result of data submitted by TNLAWREN-L/TNLAWREN-D subscribers and is being forwarded to the list for your information as a research tool. The data includes the name of the researcher; the e-mail address of the researcher; and the family surnames being researched. Data that was not included is indicated by - - -. You can see that only about ten percent of our subscribers responded to the query for a listing of families being researched. Perhaps the next time we do this there will be more participation. Hi everyone, Our Lawrence County Heritage editor, Jim Crowder, is currently doing layout on our up-coming Fall issue. If you are a member of the Lawrence County Genealogical Society and would like to place a query, now is the time to do so. Queries are free to members and $2.00 for non-members. Two queries per individual can be submitted, but please try to limit queries to 100 words if possible. You can email the queries to the society at lcarchives@lorettotel.net or send them by mail to Lawrence County Genealogical Society, 218 N. Military Ave., Suite B-1, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. This is a great way to make connections with other researchers working on the same family lines you are and gain valuable information. Thanks Kathy Niedergeses, Director Lawrence County Archives
In the 1880 Lawrence Co., TN. Census (District 1) on page 12 there is the following household. Henry McDonnell-age 55-born NC-parents born NC Sarah A.-30-TN. (wife) Mary-8-TN. Ella-6-AL. Amanda-4 AL. or TN. Emma-1-AL. Does anyone recognize this family? If so, please contact me. Judy Sanders
Hello, Please change my email address to: cadiwak@mediaone.net Thank you!!! Pam Looney
I am researching the Kiddy family who lived in Lawrence Co., TN from about 1826 until 1870's or thereabout. If anyone has any information on this family, please contact me. Shirley
Hi everyone, The Lawrence County Genealogical Society is still accepting queries to be placed in our September journal. If you are a member and would like to place a query in the journal, they are free; for non-members the fee is $2. We prefer you email the queries to lcarchives@lorettotel.net. That way we can cut and paste them into the word processor. Even if you are a non-member, you can still email the query and send the fee by mail within a week or so. But, if you prefer to send them by mail, that will be fine too. Kathy Niedergeses
Hi Everyone! I just got back to NY last night about midnight. I was returning from a 3 day Davis reunion in Nashville. While I was there, I attended located the Lawrence county library where I got to do an hour's research, where my son and I were helped by a librarian who was SO nice to us (thanks Wanda). After that we went with a lot of our relatives to the Oak Grove fish fry and the Davis cemetary. I just want to say thank you to everyone. This trip was a highlight of my life to see where my mother grew up and her family remains. I just wish we had had more time to explore. Bonnie Malburg

The date of July 5, 2000 for registration is NOT the deadline to register. It is the deadline the hotel gave for reserving rooms. However, they still have some available. You can call Elaine Eaves COX at the phone # listed or send her an e-mail. LOTS of genealogy at this reunion. Maybe we can make some headway on our EAVES family! Hello to All, I have had a request to generate a posting to the mail list which would list all of the subscribed researchers and the families they are researching. I will work on generating such a posting if you desire and if you will provide me with the date needed. In order to keep from overloading the list, I would expect to only send such a list one time a year (probably sometime just after the Lawrence County Genealogical Society Family History Fair). That would be late June (probably July by the time I updated everything. I will include your data only if you indicate to me in the return e-mail that you have no objection. The data you provide should include the identification of the researcher and the families being researched. Identification of the researcher could be either a name or an e-mail address as you desire. I would expect a format such as: Name of Researcher Families being Researched Jim Crowder Crowder, Lanning, etc.... or jcrowder@usit.net Crowder, Lanning, etc... If you are interested, respond to me at jcrowder@usit.net giving me the data you wish included and indicate you have no objection to being included. Note: There are several hundred persons subscribed at this time so the listing will be fairly large. I will wait for about two weeks for you to consider this proposal and respond before I begin compiling information for the post. Thanks for your time. If this will be a service to the subscribers, I will be glad to do it. If you think it is not worth the time and effort please tell me so. I will do what the majority wishes. Dear Kelley Cousins: Just found out that the EAVES Reunion is the same weekend as the KELLEY Reunion and is being held nearby. The Kelley Reunion is on Sunday Auga 6 only and the EAVES Reunion info is as follows: If you are an Eaves descendant you are invited to the National Eaves Reunion. August 4th, 5th & 6th, 2000 in Chattanooga, TN.@ the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel on Ringgold Rd., Chattanooga, TN. If you need additional info contact me @ ECOX456683@aol.com WOULD LOVE FOR ALL EAVES TO COME. Bring your genealogy information to share. For those of our line, we are from Richard Kelley born 1805 who married Martha EAVES. So the Kelley & Eaves Reunions are on our direct lines. What a miracle to have both reunions the same weekend in the same area. The EAVES reunion is only 29 miles from the KELLEY Reunion. Let's really get our genealogy on the table and share what we have. What a great opportunity to meet all those cousins in the same weekend. See you there!!!! Donna Cuillard
