He had two sons under five that I have never been able to trace. The Wayne County, Tennessee History and Genealogy Page is pleased to announce that the complete transcription of the first existing volume of County Court Minutes for Wayne County, Tennessee (from Sept 1848 to June 1854) is now on-line at http://www.netease.net/wayne/countycourt.htm The publication consists of the 469 pages of this first surviving minute book and is full of administrative appointments, guardianship reports, estate settlements, petitions for the sale of land and slaves, road overseer appointments and many other county government related activities. This is as complete a transcription (not an abstract) as I could make from the original book. Only certain standard bonds for county officials were not transcribed completely since they merely repeat the same wording as the first ones transcribed. There is no "index" for the volume, but it is included in the main page search engine. Very special thanks to Barbara W. Wallace and Pat Foster for doing the input from the transcriptions in the first five volumes of the "The Wayne County HIstorian". Hello Everyone, I am still trying to find my gggrandmother's burial place. She died in 1866, estranged wife of William Cummings Davis. Her name was Tennessee Mary ANTHONY Davis and they were in the midst of a divorce in 1866. I can't find either one of them buried ANYWHERE though the IGI states Lawrence county. Can anyone help? Does anyone have a Hester E.Howard in their records? I know nothing about her, except that she married Joseph G. King in 1860 in Lawrence Co., TN. I have a Joseph King who is missing and he was in Lauderdale Co., AL. in 1850. Some of my King's moved back and forth between Lauderdale Co., AL. and Lawrence Co., TN., so I was thinking maybe this Joseph G. King might be mine. Does anyone have any information other than what is available in the Official Records of the Rebellion (OR), Dyer's "Compendium" and "Buggar Saga" about the Battle of Butler's Creek which took place in late October/ early November of 1864? The battle was supposed to be a running cavalry battle (skirmish???) between Gen. Hatch of the Union and Gen. N. B. Forrest of the Condeferacy. I'm trying to locate the general vicinity of the battle and determine whether it was in Lauderdale Co., AL, Wayne Co., TN or possibly even in Lawrence Co. TN. I have a suspicion that it actually took place in the upper reaches of Lauderdale Co., AL and carried over into thatarea of Wayne Co. between TN 277 and the state line. Hello Researchers, I'm in search of info on a Jeremiah Bentley. I've seen a posting within "Lawrence Co. Heritage" that Janet Bryant is also working on this line. However, the e-mail address from the publication didn't work. It is thought that Jeremiah was in the Union Co., SC area prior to Lawrence Co., TN.
