    1. [TNLAWREN] Kimbrough photos
    2. Lawrence County Archives
    3. Hi, This morning a researcher brought two pictures to the archives and asked us to give them to the family they belong to. He stated the pictures were purchased by someone else at an estate auction. Picture #1 is of a man and woman with 3 children. The name written very faintly in pencil on the back written appears to be W. H. Kimbrough. Picture #2 is of the same man and woman years later. In the picture with them are 6 young men and 3 young women. There are no names on the back of this picture. We have a photo copied from a newspaper clipping of the what appears to be the same man and woman at an even later date. The caption under the picture states that it is of Mrs. & Mrs. Bill Kmbrough of Weakley Creek Rd. in Giles County and they are the great-grandparents of Mrs. Flournoy Cox. If you think you can identify these people, please contact the archives and we will scan and email a copy of the pictures to you for identification. 1. [TNLAWREN] Bassham researchers
    2. All you Bassham researchers I need your help. In the book on Mt. Zion, compiled in 1986, there is a picture of Mammy Sills's house and a picture of the field in front of this house. Written under the picture of the field is.. Bottom in front of house where a man was dragged to death by his horse. Now we know Bassham's lived around there. In the Pulaski Citizen, issue Thursday, January 29, 1880: A Distressing Death: We have received the particulars of a shocking accident which occured near Mount Zion, in this county, (I think it was Lawrence County, not Giles.) a few days ago resulting in the death of Mr. John Bassham, an old and respectable citizen of that neighborhood. Mr. Bassham was riding to the field, harnessed for plowing an old horse that he had owned for more than fifteen years, and which was regarded as one of the most reliable and steady going animals on the farm. While attempting to dismount after reaching the field, his foot caught in a trace chain and before he could extricate it, the horse became frightened and ran away, dragging him nearly half a mile and inflicteing injury which at once proved fatal. When assistance reached him, life was nearly extinct, and after giving a few painful respirations, he breathed his last, without uttering a word. Mr. Bassham was a kind neighbor and a good citizen, and his death, under such distressing circumstance, was a great shock to his relatives and friends. Who is this John Bassham and where is he buried? If anyone that is able to look in the Lawrenceburg paper in January of 1880, please let me know if it is in there? Thank you in advance, Sue Davis
