    3. My husband's ancestors seem to have moved back and forth across the state line a lot, and can be found in the northern part of Lauderdale County, the southern part of Lawrence County, and smack-dab on the state line. Thomas HOLLAND built a stage coach inn astride the line--and he is my biggest quest right now. I am also extremely interested in ROSS--most likely descending from the Moses Ross who is in 1840 Lauderdale Census. Other names in our direct line: MCDONALD/MCDANIEL, KILLEN, RICHARDSON, MCDOUGAL, STUTTS, WRIGHT, PORTER, DAVIS, POWELL, SPRINGER, PETTUS, EMORY/EMERY, WILEY, RITTER, GARRETT, MCMURTRY, (and HOLLAND, ROSS) In other words, about half the two counties. :-) There are more than one McDonald families in the area very early, and I look at all of them for possible connections. One group seems to have come from NC and our guy from SC [John and Margaret Emory McDonald] There are other Rosses too. Any connections to the following family are of great interest to me: Descendants of Thomas Holland 1 Thomas Holland b: Abt. 1771 d: Abt. 1844 in Lauderdale Co. 1. [TNLAWREN] Research List
    2. Jim Crowder
    3. Hello subscribers, I trust you have had a wonderful holiday season and your new year goes well. Several months ago (July/August) I published a list of researchers on this list in response to input received from you. Although there has been very little exchange of information on the list there has been some turnover in subscribers. For that reason, I will again publish a compilation if you will provide me with the info necessary. As last time, I will publish the list in the following format: Name of Researcher; e-mail address; Name(s) of families being researched If you wish to be included, please respond listing the above information. I will wait several weeks to allow sufficient time for responses to be received then I will publish the information to the list. I would expect that I could publish the new information by at least the middle of February. I hope to hear from you soon. Good hunting. -- Jim Crowder (jcrowder@usit.net) List Administrator TNLAWREN Mailing List

    1. [TNLAWREN] Weaver family
    2. Dear list, I am looking for someone who can help me connect this family from the 1900 Census. Weaver, Jennie b. May 1852 in Tennessee (listed sometimes as Virginia) McEwen, Jessie B., b. Jun 1884 in TN (never married, sometimes listed as Weaver) Weaver, Oscar D., b. Sept 1889 in TN (known to family as Tom, was married and lived in Leoma, TN) Weaver, Iola, b. Feb 1892 in TN Weaver, Robert Lee, b. Mar 1894 in TN (sent to orphanage in Cincinnati, OH, hired out on farm in Minster, OH where he later married, name changed to Albert at some point) Weaver, Mabel Lou, b. Sep 1897 in TN Jennie's maiden name is unknown as is her husband's name. Jennie was listed as a widow in 1900 so it is difficult to find out about this family. Any help anyone can provide or if you could suggest something I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Sandy Bubbysgal@aol.com

    1. [TNLAWREN] PLEASE READ/HOWARD #2
    2. Paula Thompson
    3. PLEASE READ UPDATE NOTE AT BOTTOM: I know, there has to be a zillion John HOWARD families...... I consider myself a pretty good researcher (35+ years), I consider the 2 professional researchers good so why can't we find my family????? Here is my problem..... My Daddy, Paul R. HOWARD b 1906 in Lafayette Co, Ms to Edward Paul HOWARD b 1872 Tn and Molly Narcissa RUBY b 1872 Lafayette Co, Ms E. P. (as he was called or Ed) was the ? only child of John HOWARD and Mary/Margaret ?CURLEE? , this couple was suppose to have died in 1878/79 in Shelby County, Tn. during the Yellow Fever Epic... John HOWARD was from "MIDDLE TN"....that is all my Pappy HOWARD (Edward Paul) ever said..... The only thing that I have proven in all these years is this..... John had a brother named William (Will)(I have a picture of him) HOWARD that married Amelia HUNGERFORD 1858 in Shelby County, Tn. They lived in and around the surrounding counties of Shelby, Tipton, Haywood, etc..... I do know there were more brothers and sisters ..... When Pappy HOWARD's mother & daddy died he went to live with his Granddaddy HOWARD in "MIDDLE TN"....he talked about an Aunt Maggie also.... His grandfather died when he was around 12/13 years old....this should be in the area of 1880-1888 give or take..... at that time he "struck out on his own".....his words..... There was mention that his grandfather went to La before the Civil War but lost everything during the war and came back to "MIDDLE TN"..... I don't even know a name for his grandfather..... My Daddy remembers that he heard the name of DORKAS and thinks that was his grandmother's maiden name (wife of unknown grandfather of Edward Paul).... My Daddy died in 1992 still wondering about his family..... I want to know about my family.....I welcome all help.....happy to share what I have......Paula Howard THOMPSON..... UPDATE:......You know someone has written to me suggesting that instead of "MIDDLE TN" it could have been Middleton or some town with a similar name......such as Middleburg, Middle Fork, Middle Settlement, Middleton, Midland or some name like this......now why have I never thought of that......pj
