I would like to join the Lawrence County Genealogical Soc. How much are yearly dues? Can I send a personal check? What publications, etc can I purchase? I am researching my grandfather William (Will) Victor Clark. According to my info, he may have been born in Lawrence County around 1858 and married his first wife ( Mary Evelyn Teffeteller or Teffteller) there. Jerry Greene
Did someone on the list post this name to the list this past week? If so would you contact me again? ccarnivale@aol.com

Other family of my forebearers in book are Almond, Anderson, Carriker, Clair, Greene (Green), Joice, Kimbry, Lee, LeM<aster, Misenheimer, Morrison, Stutts, Tucker, Warren, and others. You may copy and use any part of this book for your on personal use or publish in the jurnal. Plese do not reproduce it as a book for sale with out permission. Hi folks, Seems in my haste to depart work yesterday (already 30 minutes late) I had my little things leaning the wrong way (\\ instead of //) and no one can access the website. I apologize for the mistake. The correct address is below. http://www.lawrenceburg.com Kathy Niedergeses
Hi again, If you have not checked out the website http:\\www.lawrenceburg.com lately, you should try it now. The archives loaned about 40 "old" pictures of Lawrenceburg and other places in the county to Mike Salvucci, the owner of the page, a few weeks ago. He has scanned all the pictures and they can now be seen at his website. (We have hundreds more in our collection at the archives.) The pictures are located close to the bottom of the page on the right side. When you click on the tiny image it will enlarge to a full page size. Right now the only way to see all the pictures is to visit the page 40 times, since only one image appears each time. But Mike is going to work on a way to view all the pictures without having to return to the page repeatedly. This is a great way to see what the county your ancestors came from looked like in the early days. Kathy Niedergeses
Hi everyone, We had a great meeting Saturday afternoon with apporximately 45 people in attendance. Judy McKennon presented a very informative program on using the LDS branch library. Since two board members must roll of every year and new members be elected, we decided to still keep Viola and Estha on as honorary members, since they have done so much in preserving history and genealogy over the years. Board members and officers elected for our new year starting this month are as follows: Shirley Hollis - Chair Mary Nell Hollis - President Reita Burress - Vice-President Kathy Niedergeses - Secretary Travis Henderson - Treasurer Gail Walters Randy Hughes Viola Carpenter - honorary board member & historian Estha Cole - honorary board member The option was given of having the meeting on Sunday afternoons instead of Saturday since so many people work on Sat., but most people still wanted to meet on Saturday afternoon. We are still encouraging members, or non-members, to submit articles for our journals along with pictures. Kathy Niedergeses

We have a family mystery....and maybe someone out there will be able to help me solve it. My grandfather Wyatt Gladney married Hattie Marks in 1917, the county of Lawrence, Ten. I found this while researching for another mariage License. In the 1920 census of Lawrence, Ten it shows him as widowed. I would very much like to find out more about Hattie Marks. If any one has information or could point me in the right direction, it would help very much...My mother and her sister did not know about their fathers 1st wife. I would like to know if maybe there were children from this marriage. Thank you so much....vickie from Florida chyrose1@aol.com

Hi, Oh, by the way, if you would like to continue receiving our forty page journal, please renew now. Since our year runs from Sept. of one year through August of the following year, unless you are a lifetime member or have renewed already, you won't be receiving the fall issue of our journal. If you are senile like me and can not remember if you have renewed, contact me at our email address. Kathy Niedergeses
Hi again, I just wanted to let everyone know that the fall issue of the journal is about ready to go to the printers. We hope to have it ready by the meeting next Saturday. We have a new editor, Jim Crowder, who has stepped in to fill Shirley's place and is doing a wonderful job. This is his first time to do a journal of this size, so please let him know how much you enjoy the journal. If we treat him nice, he plans to continue in this position. SO PLEASE BE NICE, editors are as hard to find as chairpersons! As always, we encourage members, or even non-members, to submit articles on their families to include in the journal. If you have pictures to go with the articles, that makes them even more interesting. Please send your queries also, which are free to members and $2.00 to non-members. We always welcome ideas for our journal or for programs for our meetings. So let us know what you like and what you don't like - we strive to please. If you are not a member and would like to become a member of our society, dues are $10 for one year, $25 for one year sustaining, and $100 for lifetime. You may send the money to Lawrence County Genealogical Society, 218 N. Millitary Ave., Suite B-1, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. Please send a list of all the surnames that you are researching on to include in our database. If you have any questions contact me at lcarchives@lorettotel.net. Kathy Niedergeses
Hi everyone, The quarterly meeting of the Lawrence County Genealogical Society will be next Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2:30 at the Lawrence County Public Library located on E. Gaines St. (Hwy. 64 E). It is time for election of new board members. If you are willing to serve on the board, PLEASE, PLEASE, get in touch with me at the archives - lcarchives@lorettotel.net. According to our by-laws two members of the board are to roll off each year and two new ones are to be elected. Afterwards, at the board meeting, the board will elect officers. Our chairperson, Shirley Hollis Rice, who has done a wonderful job, has requested that we try to find someone to replace her this year. She does not live in Lawrenceburg and is very overloaded with other committments, and would like to see someone else take this position over. I am really having a hard time finding someone who is willing to give a little time for this position. It does no involve anything major - being present at the society meetings and at the board meetings, which are usually just before the regular meeting each quarter; being able to conduct the meeting if the President is not in attendance for some reason; and conducting the board meetings. So won't some sucker, (oops) I mean member, please step forward! The program for the meeting this time will be presented by one of our society members, Judy McKennon, who is a volunteer at the LDS branch library in Columbia, TN. She will give a 30 minute or so presentation on how to research at the LDS library. If many of you are like me and have never used their facilities, then this will be a wonderful opportunity to learn. Look forward to see "many" of you at the meeting Saturday. If you need directions, please contact me. Kathy Niedergeses
