    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Holifield, Walden, Pitts, Adams Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GgB.2ACE/542.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Ida Holifield was most likely her married name. From the copies of her letter I have, it is not possible to be sure; however, she is writing to people who are known to be descendants of Rev. War pensioner John Walden of Caroline, CO, VA who settled in Garrard CO, KY, after his marriage to Elizabeth Pitts in February, 1800. Ida addresses these people as her cousins and, in the body of the letters, she asks about other cousins. From what I have learned about her, I now believe she is the granddaughter of the above-cited John Walden through a daughter, Angelina Walden, who married John Quincy Adams (not the president!) and that her maiden name was most like Ida Alice Adams. This Walden family was well known in the Garrard, CO, KY area and it seems there are members still in the area; however, this is one descendant who seems to have been "lost" for a time. Thank you for all your efforts to locate her. Best regards, Eldred W. Melton

Surnames: Holifield, Walden, Pitts Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GgB.2ACE/542.2.1 Message Board Post: I appreciate your response regarding the Holifields who are buried in Tiptonsville, TN. I have nothing to connect Ida Holifield with these people as yet; however, when other data are available, they may be of great importance. The subject of her letters, copies of which I have, are in regard to her search for her ancestors, John Walden and wife Elizabeth Pitts, of VA to KY, who were married Feb 6, 1800. These letters are written to her cousins who lived in KY and in Maryland. I will be most grateful for any other Holifield information. Thank you. Eldred W. Melton
