She didn't remember Sam or a little boy coming to visit in the summer. Tennie & Sam had 3 children: L.J., Estell, who never left home, and maybe Herman. Verbal Gore was Sam's brother and he's the one who had the cleaner. He & his wife had one girl as she can remember. L.J. was married to Louise and they had 2 daughters, Anita & Jean. If I'm not mistaken, Anita worked in Ridgely Bank. L.J. is the one who had the jewlery store in front of the cleaner. This is a funny little note. After Daddy bought me the ring, I went in to have it appraised and L.J. asked me how I liked my new ring. Needless to say I didn't ask him to appraise the ring. Estell had seizuers and she had one once when Mother was doing her hair. She fell out of the chair and was out for a couple of day. Mother was so afraid that she had caused the seizuer. Estell told her later that was the best perm she'd ever! got. There should be some people around Ridgely that can tell you more about them. They were very well know and liked. I hope this had helped a little.

I talk to her every day. I'll ask her about Sam when I talk to her today. She may remember him, not sure. I was in Ridgely last weekend for our 40th Class Reunion, but didn't go by where they use to live. They had a big house. I use to love to go over and visit. I'll let you know what Mother says.

I'm sure my husband will treasure this remembrance of his grandmother. I never met her, she died about the time we married, but I've heard so many nice things about her. His grandfather (Sam) died in the thirties, so she was a widow for many years.

I'm the daughter of Hazel & Morris Pigue. My grandparents were O.E. & Corinne Pigue. My Grandmother and Teenie were real good friends. They went to the Church of Christ. I went to see her when she was real sick in the nursing home in Tiptonville, Tn. She also had a daughter in the same room with her, Estelle. I would go with my Mother to their house for her to give Estelle home perms. I can remember them very well, but don't know about her family. I guess her husband was dead by the time I could remember. Verbal Gore had a jewlery store & dry cleaner. My Daddy bought me a diamond ring from him one time. I remember going in both places. I just had to answer you back since I haven't thought of them in many years. She was a very lovely and sweet person.

He was Sam's nephew, I think. We're trying to find any information on Teenie's family. Does anyone know what her parents names were? I know from a newspaper article, when she was named Ridgley's Citizen of the Year, that she grew up in Peck's Mill. Would appreciate any help you could give us.

Our aunt purchased it in 1946 when Rolae built on the adjoining lot. We found them when cleaning and sorting after they both died. Rolae had no children, but there are neices. She was a dressmaker and he a drug store clerk per census in 1920 in Santa Ana,CA. There are post cards dated 1908 which indicated where he was from.

This is a suggestion that came through on another list - I am copying it here with the permission of the writer whose name is listed at the end of the email. As Memorial Day approaches, I was reminded again that this is the time where family members wish they were nearby to place flowers on graves, but can't because of distance, health, or whatever. When you shop for those memorial flowers and wreaths for your own loved ones, won't you join me in picking up a couple of $1 bunches of flowers to place on those lonely graves where no flowers are placed? Do it for the family members who may not be close enough or healthy enough to do it.. do it for those who have long since gone but used to care for the graves. Do it, just because you're a family historian, and care about these who have passed before us. Do it, because it just feels good! It is a special feeling know that these who would have been without, can now show that someone cared! Lanita Sconce Miller Any family tree produces some lemons, some nuts and a few bad apples.
